Case / Lang / Veirs - Song For Judee Lyrics

You wrote "The Kiss" and it is beautiful
I can listen again and again
You never really got a break
From the carwrecks and the pain

You loved the songs of the pioneers
And the Hollywood cowboy stars
You were just trying to put a hand
To where we are, where we are, where we are

Living in a '55 Cadillac
Five people sleep in shifts
Robbing liquor stores and going back
With the cash and rolling in it

You loved the songs of the pioneers
And the Hollywood cowboy stars
You were just trying to put a hand
To where we are

You never talked about your past
About the drugs and walking in the streets
They found you with a needle in your arm
Beloved books strewn around your feet

You loved the songs of the pioneers
And the Hollywood cowboy stars
You were just trying to put a hand
To where we are

You loved the songs of the pioneers
And the Hollywood cowboy stars
You were just trying to put a hand
To where we are, where we are, where we are, where we are

Judee Sill wrote some of the most beautiful and intriguing songs ever written...

If you would like to hear a loving BBC radio programme about the life of the subject of this song, Judee Sill there is one here:

This may be my favorite of what I've heard of this great album so far. Love Laura's compassionate voice - and the poignant theme.

Congrats on an amazing song Laura! I heard you all on KCRW and case/lang/veirs is an amazing leap of faith. Thanks K.D. for your bravery in this and all things.

    STOP WITH THE FUCKING REVERB!!!!!!

    J.... E....

+John Evans YOU won't. I can hear and appreciate Laura's voice and other frequently reverb soaked artists just fine. Just don't assume that YOUR preference is an actual problem in the recording.

Whoever did these recordings also did a great job of including a tasteful pre delay on the reverb which separates the reverb a few milliseconds after the vocals, as to distinguish it better. All around a wonderful choice. Bummer that it bothers you.

+John Evans know what you mean re: Fleet Foxes but this isn't so bad

    J.... E....

@John Evans Seriously dude get a life there's people with different opinions in this world not all of them suit your train of thought that's fine now stop this bullshit

    J.... E....

I agree, there's too much reverb on the recording

    J.... E....

At least it's not as bad, and I mean bad, as My Morning Jacket.
