Cars, The - Bye Bye Love Lyrics
I can't feel this way much longer
Expecting to survive
With all these hidden innuendoes
Just waiting to arrive
It's such a wavy midnight
Electric angel rock and roller
I hear what you're playing
It's an orange sky
Always it's some other guy
It's just a broken lullaby
Bye bye love
Bye bye love
Bye bye love
Bye bye love
Substitution mass confusion
Involving all my energies
Until you visited
With your eyes of porcelain and blue
They shock me into sense
You think you're so illustrious
You call yourself intense

Cars, The Bye Bye Love Comments
Muy bonita musica : letra muy limpia .
I remember when this album came out 42 years ago. How short life is for humans.
The Cars were something else and they knew it thank you for All YOUR LOVE🌹STALLONE
Awesome
"Substitution, mass confusion clouds inside your head" Was this guy a fricking GENIUS or what? 😀😁😂😃[I am talking about the late, great Ric Ocasek] 💙💚💛💜
One of the best licks ever played on a guitar at 3:30
Man, I love love love Elliot Easton's guitar playing!
This reminds me of rolling with my dad in his truck in the late 90s and early 2000s, getting to spend the summers, shooting, biking, hiking, fishing, wrenching on his caddy
I miss my pops
A porn dream sky..thats tight no love
It will hurt..just for fun..love has manners. Pains
.no good. Not in las vegas..horney warney
1978? Sounds like 1998!!
This was when music was real music! Great song! Totally underrated singer.
This is my favorite song by The Cars. I remember the first time hearing this record and thinking how innovative and creative it was. I was 8 years old so of course it was those specific words I'd been thinking.
I just found out two minutes ago this was sung by Benjamin Orr. Now I feel like a traitor to Ric Ocasek, especially after hating "Drive" so vehemently since the first time I heard it in 1984.
Regardless, two members of this incredible band are gone.
You are missed so hard, gentlemen.
If there's a flood of skinny black ties I'll know where they went.
It'll definitely be forgiven.
I can't get enough of the 80s! I overdose everytime! I love my medicine.
FreeKing Awwsome
The Cars and REM...best American bands
TIMELESS!
34 years ago I bought The Cars Greatest Hits album and that was it......never listened to it !!
Now I can't get enough of them. What a truly remarkable and talented collective.
Brilliant music..
Love and respect
grammarly sucks
Their sound engineer should have won an award
My Dad still has this on vinyl
I used to listen to this before and after school as a teen!
Pretty much a perfect rock/pop song...solid drums with great fills, perfect synth solo, piano, power chords, vocals....just the right length...they were masters.
That intro
Kids This is when Music was at it best ever what a great time to Grow up
An ex gf turned me on to the Cars back in the day. The gf is long gone, but still diggin this in 2019 ;)
Drinking vodka out of baby oil bottles in jr high locker room blasting this “Unreal new band” on a boom box Ahhhhhh childhood!
i think only the idiots underrated them, top notch band.i was 17 when this came out.
This song is just a perfect example of why they were such a great band.....great arrangement, fabulous singer.......love it.
who is on drums?
my song
3:24 that lead guitar every next three or four phrases is superb ! Thank you Elliot Easton !
Put this on and it takes me right back to those days...
This song's been playing over & over in my head for the past 2 weeks. That's why I'm here. Love those drum fills! So cool!
what it is .
It's just a FUCKING ALIBY.
LOTS of Scotch and Coke went with this era.:):):):):)
I seen the cars two times and they was great shows
bye my love
Always it's some other guy......sigh...
speaking of car cassette players . they'd jam, tape coming out on the floor. most chucked em out the window. i was the guy on the ten speed bicycle collecting them on side of the road, put in my backpack. take em home , put the pencil or pen in the holes, roll em back up as much as i could, cut off what was unuseable, sliced scotch tape into thin short strands, put the two ends together and would listen to them or record over them.
bye my love
3:24 to 3:51 superb short guitar solo by Elliot Easton
Cars' bassist/singer Ben Orr is singing lead on this one. And on many of The Cars' songs you thought were Ric Ocasek's voice . imho, Ben has the better voice
Still one of my favorite songs!
I’m still rocking them at 65😊 Ric and Benjamin are rocking together in heaven😇😇
One of my top 10 groups. So many great songs!
Kinda sounds like something from spyro
So illustrious that it's intense.
THIS, boys and girls, is REAL ROCK.
I remember my dad buying this album. I was rocking to it at 8 years old and still am today! And still have the album 👍
It's just a broken lulla-bye...
Thank you, Ric. RIP.
Consistently revisiting this superb debut album inspires many good memories for me.

starting around 3:23 - short but awesome lead guitar by Elliot Easton
That's bassist singer Ben Orr singing this song .
That short guitar solo near end of song by Elliot Easton is superb . He was able to play longer solos but at this time circa late 1970s, people were getting sick and tired of long rock guitar solos and disco .
Fell I love with the cars in 1979 when I was visiting U S A . Still love them. Way ahead of their time.
If you are looking for the definition of brilliance, look no further! RIP great fella!!
love the cars

Great time in my Life!!! Thanks Rick RIP!
I needed this I'm going through a divorce....bye bye love
and the bass ...it's unbelievable ...the live versions on you tube are excellent ...their hits can NOT compare
this song will become there most famous as they fade ....it's about teenage relationship angst...the drums and guitar are just beyond compare
That girl on the cover.... so iconic. Americana at its best!
i still remember when i got my best of the cars CD collection about a decade ago it didnt leave my car for a good month (and i listen to a lot of music),their music is timeless
good times
Get one thing straight: Ric Ocasek WAS The Cars. The rest were lucky to be taken on his trip.
Who remembers the next song playing immediately after this one.
GREAT group great memories from the past!! TO YOU RIC and band---- NO BYE BYE ---JUST THANKS for the fantastic music!!!
You think you're so illustrious
You call yourself intense. . . an all time fav lyric line of mine :)
Music that is timeless ...Way ahead of their time 2019 - until.
R.I.P. RIC
All very underrated musicians. I forgot how spot on they all were......
You have arrived when Miles Davis says he likes your music. RIP Ric and Ben
And John Lennon
I love Elliott Easton's lead riffs!
The first time I heard THE CARS, it was this song while staring at the great picture above at a friend's house. Refreshing. I instantly liked them even though I was more of a rock-n-roll and metal guy.
My first concert and my all-time favorite band. When Ric passed I started to hear one of their songs on radio and just was so sad and cried. May Ric and Ben keep rockin'! Much love to Ric's family and friends.
Hey youtube....fuck all your ads

My ski friends and I were doing the Pogo to this song at the Squaw Valley Bar back in the day
Thank God for the late 70s and early 80s music some of the best ever done
Saw The Cars twice at the Cow Palace in San Francisco in the early 80s... Both shows were some of the best I've seen... Both Rick Ocasek and Ben Orr were spectacular... This band is one of my all-time favorites...
An amazing timeless song Long live the CARS RIP Rick and Ben
Awesome song! Released in 1978, but it seems to have more of an early 80s sound, like maybe 1981 or 82. Rip, Mr. Ocasek.
Ben's voice!!!
"and you slip into insane"
Ric could definitely write a song
His body may be gone, but his soul will live on in perpetuity...
Ben Orr sang this song. And all the other good ones. Know your music!
Bye bye, man...
The Cars are the greatest band to ever exist. Ric Ocasek is hands down the greatest rock artist to ever walk the face of the earth. In my opinion, Bye Bye Love is the greatest rock song ever composed by any artist and will never be topped. Rest in peace Ric Ocasek!! You are a rock legend!!
Hey you rock and roller, I hear wat'cher playin'.
Sure i'm illustrious just like this. I'm intense. Before
this song I wasn't sure but now I know. Bye bye love.
I am normally a 70's hard rocker but did buy this when it came out and liked it. Ocasek had genius in him like David Byrne of Talking Heads and of course the great Frank Zappa.
This was yet another great song from that monumental album. Kids now would be too dumbed down to enjoy such a good album or group, as would believe the album and the group a product of one of their delusional tavistock internet conspiracies tinfoiler notions. Life is passing this slacker generation by down there in mama’s basement.
