Note, fun little Cars fact: Ocasek decided to title the album Move Like This as a reference to the band's reputation for not moving around very much onstage. It came from one line in the song, "Too Late." RIP Ric Ocasek and Ben Orr, at least they left us with one more album just 8 years ago and a Hall Of Fame performance in 2018.

Lol I never noticed that until I started looking him up after he died and everyone seemed to notice but me 😝 and I see many people go out in sunshine and not wear sunglasses much of the content on YouTube! I can’t go out in sun without sunglasses lol never gave it any thought until I saw people calling Ric out on this. Do you always go out I. Sun wearing sunglasses? Taking a poll here. Check out Gilbert Arciniegas videos of the 80s 90s and 2000s and even now he has lots of home videos he’s been recording since 1988! See Los Angeles back in late 80s and one thing hasn’t changed he says not many people wear sunglasses outside. You should check his videos out it’s a time capsule.

What an amazing record to pull off...it's like they picked up the tone arm in 1984 and put it down in 2011. Can't think of another older band that has managed that trick, maybe Steely Dan in 2000.

There should be a radio format that exclusively plays new music by older artist. The classic rock stations aren't going play the new Madonna, prince, or Duran Duran song. They have Like a Virgin, Kiss, and Hungry Like a Wolf they can play. The pop stations would rather play new music by new artists like Adele, Sia, or Florence and the Machine. So more established artists are screwed.

i was so impressed with this entire album, not a bad song on it. one of the all time great bands, very underrated.

+klaws32 I agree 100%. It's totally classic Cars, but with an updated fresh sound. A beautiful fusion of 1979's 'Candy-0' sound brought into the present (even thought it's 5 years old this month). It's one of The Car's best albums for sure.

Thank Jacknife Lee - he did the same treatment for REM in their later years with success. The Cars had him play bass and produce half the songs including the two singles - Sad Song and Blue Tip.

Not sure if another one will be coming. It took Ric a long time to write this album. I read in an article that he said without Ben he knew the material had to be really good to pull it off. It's a masterpiece! The problem is as great as this record was it got very little play...That has to be frustrating for him.

Ric Ocasek said back in 2011 this was for the fans and they had no expectations. It did take a long time for him to write this song as he wanted it to be the classic sound and he did not have Ben Orr, his close friend in real life, to help. He did a great job with his band mates collaborating as well as Jacknife Lee who helped out producing this song which was a single along with Sad Song which he also produced for them (and played bass on both). With the state of the record industry, they did not plan to release an album just a few songs online but in the end, a record company signed them and they did a full album and moderate promotion with a limited tour (11 stops). This was a one time thing for Ric Ocasek and the band as Ric is a highly successful songwriter and producer for other bands.

They hide their age as did Cyrano, with their usual brilliance at video aesthetics, substantive lyrical content (if you think about it). Especially the "Sad Song". It is, after all, the abiding music of the world, as I'm afraid you and everyone who abides in the world will see. It turns out that this song, this video, "Sad Song", represents the Formulam Finalitatis, which I derived infallibly. Be sad. Be very sad.

Finally! I always wondered if these guys would ever get back together and after Orr's death I was 99% sure they wouldnt. When I heard they were back together I had to listen and the new album is awesome. Im glad they kept their same sound and didnt change it....Please take note newer bands this is how you do it!
