One thing that might set Karen Carpenter apart from all other female singers.....is......that she seems to be ego-less, and just sings because that's what she is doing. She is not trying to be a star, or tell you her myth. She is just singing, and the words are true. There is something true going on here. And Karen, is the pure person who can say this truth....and everyone gets it, even though it's hard to really talk about that. She has it, and her voice sounds like heaven.

One of the few truly unique and beautiful female voices that goes through the ear and into the bone marrow immediately. She was fortunate to have a brother who knew how to arrange and write for her stunning vocal qualities. I wish she had gone on to do more. Her voice gets to you where you really live and we all need artistry that can help us find our center and stay centered and enjoy being there.

Such a tragedy, that this beautiful angel died at age 32. We didn't know much about anorexia nervosa in 1983. Just love listening to her gorgeous voice. So sad she's not here any longer.

I saw an American singer called Weyes blood play Brixton, London about 3 month's. Her voice reminded me of Karen Carpenter. Hypnotic, Beautiful , eclectic, yet still feel the pain in her soul.

• On my drive home I listened to CBC radio — they had a feature on young people today with eating disorders and the pressures from social media etc. but there was a mention of Karen Carpenter — then they played one of her songs: SUPERSTAR. It brought tears to my eyes.

• When we were singing at chorus / jazz choir at high school, Mr. Anderson, our Music Teacher always had us listen to her (The Carpenters), sling with Canada’s Anne Murray, Queen’s Freddie Mercury, and other icons who stood out with their particular vocal expressions, range & bravado.

• Karens soothing lilting voice and pleasant demeanour particularly was something held in high regard.
• I’ve always admired her voice but was so saddened by her untimely death.
