Carole King - The First Day In August Lyrics

On the first day in August
I want to wake up by your side
After sleeping with you
On the last night in July
In the morning
We'll catch the sun rising
And we'll chase it from the mountains
To the bottom of the sea

When the day is over
And the night air comes to chill us
You'll build a fire
And we'll watch the flames dancing

You'll fall asleep
With your arm around my shoulder
And nothing will come between us
On the first night in August
The first day in August

This song makes you yearn for a relationship this deep if you don't have one, and makes you want to cry with joy if you do.

I sang this song to my husband for 35 years. It made me love him. He ALWAYS laughed at me. He died and I so miss him. We were married on the second day in August.

My husband died October 22nd 2017. I always played it for him each year because I always loved him from August 1st....13 years before we got married...and we were married 32 years.

So many to choose from - but one of her best and least known songs.
