Carly Simon - Haven't Got Time For The Pain Lyrics
All those crazy nights when I cried myself to sleep
Now melodrama never makes me weep anymore
'Cause I haven't got time for the pain
I haven't got room for the pain
I haven't the need for the pain
You showed me how, how to leave myself behind
How to turn down the noise in my mind
Now I haven't got time for the pain
I haven't got room for the pain
I haven't the need for the pain
Not since I've known you
Suffering was the only thing that made me feel I was alive
Though that's just how much it cost to survive in this world
How to open up and drink in all that white light
Pouring down from the heaven
I haven't got time for the pain
I haven't got room for the pain
I haven't the need for the pain
Not since I've known you

Carly Simon Haven't Got Time For The Pain Comments
2020, I still have time for Carly, how about you?
Great song!
I am discovering so many Carly Simon songs that I grew up listening to (thanks to my mom) that I didn't even realize were Carly Simon songs. Growing up all I ever knew of Carly Simon was You're So Vain, but I'm so happy to discover all of her wonderful songs that I do know, but didn't realize are hers.
These are the songs that take you back to those carefree years of youth. Better than a smell or the sight of something, hearing triggers memories that cant be beat!
This is Music in every sense of the meaning.
My mom says this song reminds her of a friend of hers. One day said friend crashed her car into a tree and died. They were never able to find whether it was an accident or suicide.
I'd imagine quite a few other people have similar associations with this song.
Thank you Lord Buddha.
What a wonderful tribute to our Savior, the light, no more darkness.
A song tailor made for aspirin commercials.
...me too, don't have time for the pain...movin on!!!
I really related to this song back in the day...I was thirteen.
A joyful, vulnerable love song...one of my favorites!
Happy Days with the Duke Dutchess and Sir.
Smart lyrics. Some of them have definitely stuck in my memory ...
I'am still Listening in 2019 . and I remember when this came out love it ❤️❤️💜
me too.
...me too, no time for the pain! Moving on to better things...Yeehaa!!!
Oh man. Makes me feel all kinds of ways.
Who else is here because of That 70’s Show??? Annette, Jessica Simpson’s character sings it to Eric Forman after his grandfather’s funeral!
I have always liked Carly Simon. Such great soothing and timeless music.
Later used in adverts for Tylenol in the 80's. There are few voices this good, and she could also handle guitar and keyboards. Took a break in the early 80's and returned with the magnificent "Coming Around Again" in 1986.
Have always loved her music. This song is 1 of my favorites by her.....
She did not age very well. Scary...
45 years ago this album debuted. Feel old yet? This still beats the BS Taylor Swift and Slutty Cyrus released thus far. Hate the 2000's!!!!
To me they are stale, bland, unoriginal, boring and on and on and on... Just the END of this song beats ALL of theirs put together. Damn
She is such a great songwriter
she's been crying about dumping James Taylor for decades, well bitch you wanted it now shut the hell up
i named my daughter after her
Poxa!!!
what memories of my youth in NYC and so in love!!
who's still listening in 2019 love Carly
Bought the 5 CD collection several years ago
I'm 64..... love her voice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Unlike that comment,
She is an original
Still a great song, lol I'm always saying I haven't got time for the pain ;)
Yeah. No room for pain...
This isn't actually the version that was on Hotcakes- this is the single version (which I prefer.) Most of the hits compilations since 'Best of' in 1975 contain the album version.
Yummy the voice james taylor is an idiot 💖
He was a drug addict!
This is my all-time favourite song written by Carly Simon and Jacob Brackman for her fourth studio album-Hotcakes,originally released in 1974 on the Elektra label, distributed by EMI Records in the UK ,when I was 5 years old,and the best part that I like is when the music faded, and one of my best favourites from Carly Simon.
The right voice at the right time. No one else could have done it justice.
Always loved her music, and that she avoided the public spotlight compared to other performers. To me she was left of Carole King's writing but not 'out there' like Joni is in my mind.
My anthem!
How in the hell could 137 people give this beautiful lady and this beautiful song thumbs down obviously no taste in great music and in a absolute beautiful woman
I used to be able to sing these songs, but I have lung cancer and can't sing now. Love Carly!!!
2019 and still sounds fresh and new💞was in my middle teens and now I'm 58 but still rockin my music of my generation👍😉Rock and Roll of course, but have to listen to some mellow stuff once in awhile just to center myself🌜🌛🌠💫👀🎶🎵🎼🎤💞
i so agree. what a great tune. POV I love you
After listening to this song does could life be any better.
When I was 14 years old the song was popular, I didn't realize the strength it gave me until 10 years later when I had to leave a marriage that was in shambles of Deceit. I owe my strength to this woman.
I've never really looked at this song as a love song from a woman to a man. I always felt it was a song about learning to love yourself and finding the person that you can become.
Sbe showed all of us 70's, 80's women what we should 'nt of, or put up with, anymore.
Somebody was beating the holy hell.out.of her
Makes one feel so strong! My coming of age musical idol...Carly Simon <3
I miss you Mom !
En lo original si inspira en los dias sean mejores geacias
So she's telling us that she doesn't do windows.
That break @ 2:56 is definitely a Norman Whitfield thing. Used to perfection here.
Great song! I always liked it since I first heard it in '74 or so.
this song is life changing
This sound is my life ! I love it
Grande Carly voce e musica di grande spessore e qualità
THANK YOU Carly Simon, Morten Harket, Robin Gibb, Bee Gees, Roger Hodgson, Eric Carmen, Sting.
Refuse to ruminate, by reliving the pain from your past and keeping the negative experiences alive. Let go of negativity, resentment and bitterness, it only does you harm. The gift of life is to enjoy, not to continually remind ourselves of painful experiences from our past. Learn to let go, don't have time for the pain.
Timeless
I had forgotten how pertinent she was -The pain of the sixties hangs on-Many say:"what has love got to do with it?" He who dares wins.
Can't get enough of this one! Still love it 45 years later.
I always listen to this song when I do prescription drugs
In my opinion, the best song she ever did, and one of the best songs of the 70's.
GOD RESCUES FROM THE WICKED IN JESUS AMEN
What a great, soaring song: lyrics, melody, vocals, arrangement, production - just flawless!!
i can imagine the Record Producer telling his Soundboard Engineer:
"Bring up the Bongos ! "
"Triangle ! Now! Now! " ;--)
Great Song .....

This song needs to be played in every therapist's waiting room.
A favorite from my senior yr in high school. Best songs ever.

haze grey.........
This song reminds me of the Summer of 1974-a Summer that many of us truly miss...
Brian I had just completed my first year of college. Was 18 then and on a trip to Conn with my parents met a girl that would become a focal point in my life. ‘Radar Love’ by Golden Earring would become ‘our’ song. This time period music wise & event wise lives with me forever.
It was the summer before my senior year in high school, I was 17, lots of great tunes, You make Me Feel Brand New - The Stylistics, Sundown - Gordon Lightfoot, The Air That I Breath - The Hollies, Come Monday - Jimmy Buffett, but most of all Sunshine On My Shoulder - John Denver which was a favorite of an "older woman" I had a crush on, a college student 22 yo. heh. Forty plus years, but whenever I hear it, my thoughts go back to her.
Brian I know exactly what you are thinking & feeling. The soundtracks of our lives. Moments happy & sad suspended in time...
VERY well put my friend, Fair Winds
oh John...miss isn't the word for it.......summer of 74....the summer before my senior year in high school..my last full summer, because summer of 75 I was on Parris Island, Marine Corps boot camp.....beautiful music then...
Carly made natural someth. Beautiful lovely shiny blue eyes. And wide grin smile. Tall lanky
And feminine.
No female singer around like this lady today
Thanks Carly - your song changes my life software to be nice to people
Cried a lot of my pain to this song.
One of the iconic songs from Carly. Reminds me to let go of the pain and let love fill my broken heart.
