Can anyone explain to me WHY AND HOW was she passed over for induction into the Songwriters Hall of Fame? I understand she doesn't write for other artists but goddamn she has created utter masterpieces of contemporary pop like no other artist. Just listening to many of her "minor" songs like this or "The Roof" and you realize what a luminary of lyrical depth and arrangement she really is. In my mind, a true artist can be evaluated if you remove the one main thing they have to offer, and they still hold artistic integrity. In Mariah's case, if you take her vocals out of the equation, her songwriting, producing and arrangements are still CLASS A material. That is how you know you are talking about a real artist.

@Underneath The Stars I'm sure she had some input but is a Babyface song. Mariah says she is "songwriter" but all her tunes were co-written. She never gives producers or writers credit. She didn't do all this work on her own. Mariah believes her own publicity. Of course, still love her music. Especially the very early stuff!
