I started listening to meriah Carey since I was a boy now I m 42 and still loving those music

I was 20 when Emotions came out, and ALL the songs were FIRE and we were blown away by her vocals then. But I listen now...and I’m even more blown away, because she was ONLY 21 (well, 1 we all know) and her depth and range was unparalleled! What do 21 year olds nowadays produce? Um...NOTHING like THIS!

I love Mariahs voice during her first three albums the most, for me that's when her vocal prime was. A lot of people say butterfly was her prime, I dont agree 🦋 Her voice was more "full/thick' in her early years.

One of the sweetest and 💓 prettiest ballads that was never released and even worse no airplay on radio. With hindsight being 20/20 I believe she was expressing what she was living with her ex husband and I truly believe that he was the reason why this gorgeous song, although I played it all day every day this song was purposely not played or promoted.

This song is absolutely amazing, and her voice is like no other. I have no words... I studied music and still do, and there is no artist of this decade that can compare to Mariah, Whitney, or Celine! I always thought this was the best Mariah high note. For tone, purity and presentation and the vibrato. She never delivered a high note so sustained and crystal clear as this one.

I agree with "There's Got To Be A Way" probably her 2nd best, based on the way she attacked it. "Can't Let Go" is pretty, but it was too over-produced. I never thought the "Can't Let Go" high note was one of her more important ones. In fact, they edited it out of the single release and most radio and video versions anyways.

@65neu the can't let go whistle was edited out to reduce on the monotony of the whistle note in her songs, however, I believe the emotions album particularly the can't let go song earned her the title "songbird"... do you notice her whistles at the beginning of the song in the video version? One might think they are actually birds whistling...lol.

Yes, I know they did edit it out because of monotony on radio, but I always thought it provided an example of why that note isn't 'essential' though gorgeous, of course. Yes, those reverbed high notes at beginning, so well done.

When Mariah sang. The high note she's saying "My Heart". Why did I let you in to "my heart?'.

Emotions album. It only has 3 singles: Emotions (#1), Can't Let Go (#2), and Make It Happen (#5). And if you listen to Mariah's albums, her non-singles are also marvelous. Her discography is just amazing.

My mom dedicated this song to my cheating father. He decided to cheat on her after being 30 years married! With a younger girl. He’s 50 years old. Worse thing is that my mom found out because her friends told her. They found out and knew before her. The embarrassment that man caused is truly unacceptable. I will never forgive him. Nevertheless, my mom is a woman who got to where she was NOT because of him, but because she put her blood, sweat, and tears into her work. She became successful and shared that success with a worthless shitty man who never respected her. This is for all the moms out there that work so hard and have to put up with never ending traumas. It's because she tends to overlace tracks in 'range wanking' ... and oversings which to many people is the opposite of letting go. Because she is strategic in how she sings a song; far too strategic to truly feel it. But that aside, I enjoy her first two albums and for me she did a great job.
