It's like the lyrics were written by a 13 year old. The vocal parts just needlessly prolong a good instrumental song with some generic "dark heavy metal". Floor on floor of fear...ffs.

That would be a very skilled 13 year-old.

People seem to romanticise Messiah and Low. Both are way past their prime. Actually I would go as far as saying that Johan has lost it as well. Take some time and compare the recent live performances of these singers to the years, when they became famous. With Mats they started playing some of the old tunes again, because Lowe could not handle them. I saw them live three times with Mats and he was almost perfect.

If they ever make a Brütal Legend 2, these guys need a song in there.

Good news(maybe):
Candlemass announced the return of Johan Langquist to the band after a 32 year hiatus. If you guys do not like the vocals by Mats Levén, Johan Langquist may sound better. I am not sure if his voice aged. If didn't, their next album might sound like Epicus Doomicus Metallicus

its not a band song at all but i wished they would release a re-mix of this with the old school drum sounds and reverb. the overall low end in this song is a bit much and makes the vocals sound a bit thin but other then that its a good mix

just pop metal for teenagers..almost nothing has left from the formerly mighty Candlemass

i love candlemass and for sure with marcolin was awesome and now its Leven and you know sounds amazing too, and i love it i have all their records, but i dont want more Ep's i want a record !!!

The complaints here are understandable but i have listened to candlemass's older stuff such as epicus doomicus metallicus but i have to say, the voice, the music, and especially the lyrics are just great. It gives me that victorian horror vibe and i love it.

Big fan of candlemass and Krux but it felt like they got Matt to just sing some demo lyrics nobody gave a shit about. The whole EP feels boring and soulless. Solos are generally weak sauce too. Why release a cd that feels like studio demos? I guess most fans are not musicians and cannot tell, but you end up releasing st.anger grade bs and real metal heads know.

Rob would've fucking owned this song. Mats is very good though. I can't say I dislike his vocals AT ALL but he is a kind of lesser version of Rob to me. Anyway, love this track. This EP is way better than Death Thy Lover. Candlemass remain one of the most consistent bands ever.

Love it. And the vocals suit the song perfectly. No, I don't miss Messiah Marcolin AT ALL. But I guess it's natural to have the usual prophets of Nostalgic Doom in a Candlemass. It suits the atmosphere.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Candlemass is great at what they do. Mats Leven is great at what he can do. They just don't sound that great together for some reason. You had all those big soaring vocalists before him that he simply sounds weak in comparison to them, which isn't fair to Mats because he is fantastic when singing in the style of music that suits his voice best. He better with a faster style like what he did with Yngwie or maybe a Helloween-type band.
