Candi Staton - I'm Just A Prisoner (Of Your Good Lovin') Lyrics
I'd rather be lonely
Than to lose you
I'd rather be blue
Than to be all alone
My heart would grieve me
And my poor heart, no, no
Just couldn't stand the pain
Though your love
Has got me in captivity, yeah
Yet if you should leave me
I know I would die, yeah
In other words, in other words, listen
I couldn't stand
For you to say goodbye
Now I'm just a prisoner
For your good loving
I'm just a slave, yeah
Bound and chained
No, no, I don't wanna ever be free
For my poor heart
No, it just couldn't stand the pain
Though your love, oh, yeah
Got me in captivity
Yet if you should leave me, no no
I know I would die
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
In other words, in other words
I just couldn't take it, baby
I couldn't stand, ho
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
I'm just a prisoner, oh
For your good loving, yes I am
Listen, I'm just a slave
Bound and chained
No, no, no, no
I don't ever wanna be free, oh no
So don't ever leave me, mm
For my poor heart, ooh
Just couldn't stand the pain
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
I'm just a prisoner
Just a prisoner
I done tried, I done tried
I done tried and I can't live without him
I can't live without him
I can't live without him

Candi Staton I'm Just A Prisoner (Of Your Good Lovin') Comments
Candi your voice is dynamic but anyone can tell that it was really made to do Godly kingdom singing because it's anointed and taps into our spirit far deeper than the secular songs you sang. My sister your songs knew how to make us get a move on even when we didn't feel like moving to the beat. This was truly my get it on the dance floor jam but I changed partners and now I am a prisoner of the Lord Jesus Christ and I'm loving it. I also use to watch your New Direction Ministry it was so fulfilling keep going right for God it will pay off. God bless you from your sister in Christ in Hammond, LA.

I used to check YouTube and lament the absence of Candi's soul songs. Glad you've fixed that. This is one of her best. I always called her the female Otis Redding.
