Our family went through this with our mother. Not a day goes by without that sorrow lingering, knowing what a horrible and miserable death it is for not only the person suffering but the family. May God shine his eternal everlasting grace on each and ever one of us as we walk through our tests of life here on earth. And may God, through Jesus, welcome us home with open arms and eternal love.

I met him on the road to Emmaus as he ministered to me
time and again and again
he just left his meat suit to go be with the Lord
so he died in the flesh
but although I’ll miss him a lot
and every time I’ll hear his voice
I’ll hear the Lord’s voice in my heart
we will be together for such a long time
that this is the best I can describe it

In Oregon we had that beautiful Mount Hood
I could see every day from the OHSU where I worked
and even though right now it has a very sharp peak
we know from geology that its peak is destined
to be rounded off
then become a plateau
and then eventually t will be nothing more than a hill
or even levelled to the field

Sure it will take a long time
but I’m not even done describing how long
I will be with Glen and the Apostle Paul and Peter
and James and you name it
al the company of the saints of God
(who have nothing to do with the saints of the Vatican)

Now imagine that the ONLY factor that will bring
Mt Hood to be levelled to the ground
is a tiny little finch
that will strike its beak once every thousand years
no wind erosion no radiation no rain no ice
just this tiny little finch striking its beak
once
every 1,000 years
and by the time Mt Hood is levelled
eternity would have just begun

So I don’t know about you
but I sure prefer to loose friends
knowing that I’ll see them for that long
rather than feeling their love
but never see them again

So all thanks to precisely what Glen is singing here
