@lukas Bolle You've completely missed my point. The name of the band is Camel, like the famous cigarettes. The album cover is fashioned after the iconic Camel cigarette pack design, much like artist Andy Warhol's famous Campbell's Soup can. Warhol did the Rolling Stones Sticky Fingers album cover using Joe D'Allesandro as the model. The Mirage album cover is of a stylized camel made to look like a mirage which is the name of the album. Todd Parke apparently doesn't get the clever artwork on the album cover. Perhaps he should take an art appreciation class, and while he's at it, perhaps, a music appreciation class too. But, I guess this is what happens when people who know nothing about album cover art or music try to criticize it.

@lukas Bolle I too am a fan of Camel. Much of what passes for music these days isn't even played on musical instruments. It's made using samples of other people's music manipulated with computer software. I long for the days when music was about art being made by real musicians playing real musical instruments instead of prostituting the art of music for money. The Mirage album cover takes a subtle jab at the crass commercialism of marketing cigarettes using clever artwork to sell them and make millions in profits while many excellent musicians are relegated to starving artist status. The Camel-as-mirage image speaks to this, in that the band Camel, remaining true to their art, never made millions in profits for themselves; they only made excellent music.

this song is epically good to the point it's almost unbelievable.

Given the state of technology available in 1974, it's truly amazing that music like this was made. It's like the early synth and stereo mixes have been lost to time. (I blame the 80s)

Saw Ozric live in the Melkweg Amsterdam together with a few hundred other dancers. Thanks for posting this Camel beauty, i love their Snowgoose album.

Been a massive prog fan all my adult life - Yes, King Crimson, ELP, Gentle Giant, VdGG, Gong, Tull, Cardiacs, Canterbury scene, Henry Cow, Magma, Utopia... the works, y'know? Yet after one cursory listen to "The Snow Goose" over a decade a go I filed Camel in the "not for me" bin. Fucking hell, what a chump past-me was. Looks like I need to make up for lost time.

Ozric Tentacles had been around for more than 25 years before this posting was made.

This was recorded in 1974. Different genre too. Here be Prog!
