Calvi, Anna - Jezebel Lyrics
Jezebel... Jezebel...
Ce démon qui brûlait mon cœur
Cet ange qui séchait mes pleurs
C'était toi, Jezebel, c'était toi.
Ces larmes transpercées de joie,
Mais l'amour s'est anéanti.
Tout s'est écroulé sur ma vie,
Écrasant, piétinant, emportant mon cœur,
Jezebel...
Ton nom...
Jezebel... Jezebel...
Mais l'amour s'est anéanti.
Tout s'est écroulé sur ma vie,
Écrasant, piétinant, emportant mon cœur
Jezebel... Mais pour toi,
Je ferais le tour de la terre,
J'irais jusqu'au fond des enfers
En criant sans répit,
Jour et nuit,
Jezebel... Jezebel...
Jezebel...

Unearth beautifull She is <3 how beauty..
great voice but well used.
escaping from regular drums is AWESOME !
Wow She is absolutely amazing ! <3
Absolutely beautiful voice! Love it!
I think Frankie Laine would approve.
Youre a powerhouse singer! I love you!!!
the definitely better Lana del Rey
stupid and unfounded comparison
amazing!
this song is so amazing and her voice is so powerfull!
I can't stop listening to this!
AWESOME
La amo!, simplemente la amo.
what a fucking song!!!!!!!!
damn!
Wow... I'm no English speaking person and at the beginning I first understood "It tastes so bad!"... just LOL!!!!
But, seriously now, great work!!!
WHAT LUNGS!!!!
This music belongs in a Tarantino film!
its too good for a Tarantino film.
Big Mout intro
Oh God !!!!!
OK! But I prefer Frankie Laines version.
What was the inspiration for this ballad on Jezebel?
I'd wager it was a woman called Jezebel.
@Luke Wilbur It's Frankie Laine plus a smattering of Ennio Morricone twangs
We'd have to ask Wayne Shanklin - he wrote the song.
Mi ricorda i primi Jefferson Airplane...
Even better than Shakin' Stevens version.
Performance in Cracow was masterpiece!!! Jezebel in the end was so intence.. :) Thanks
Mother of fucking God D:
Amazing
written by Wayne Shanklin ;)
I think so, yep
It's an Edith Piaf song no ?
Wayne Shanklin actually, but Edith made it famous.
I was looking for a song I thought was called Jesabell and got this one. Totally different but great. Reminds me of Nona Hagen
WOW!!!, I'm speechless... she's absolutely amazing!
whats the very last freaking chord in this song, i cant figure it out??
The Edith Piaf rendition is the definitive and best!
SUCH AN AMAZING CHARACTER!!
this song was composed in the fifties , it was first recorded by Frankie Laine . Get your head out of your ass , I know it's too much asking you to have some culture , but at least use Google beforen posting shit comments
God awful. Just awful.
Reminds me of Nick Cave in his Elvis period
Beloved Siouxsie, beloved PJ, beloved White Stripes! This woman is also a major starr I love watching her do magic on that telecaster. And you'd have to be a big baby if you use the word "bitch" Scared of pussy, huh?
Don't call her a bitch, bitch!
SEXIEST SONG EVER!
She's no bitch, she's classy.
You could have chosen a better wort that bitch. And you are actually comparing her to Polly....
If this track isn't on Mafia II, you truly are one of the biggest dumb-ass muthafuckaz in the world. If it's not, I apologize...
She's great, but there's something touchy about covering Herman's Hermits songs.
REMINDED ME OF BELOVED SIOUXSIE I WAS READY TO WRITE ABOUT IT!
SHE SEEMS TO BE REALLY SOMETHING THIS ANNA GIRL! I HOPE SHE FINDS HER PATH TO SUCCESS WITHOUT LOSING HERSELF!
MAFIA II RULES!
there are some haters on you tube. shes great.. love her looking forward to see her live.
siouxsie meets the doors meet the white stripes kind o thing…
awful this is so ugly i think jezebel in marty wilde's version is the best
davvero ... Anna ... unica ... in questa interpretazione poi .. oltre ... :) grz
anna sei fantastica, così sensuale. la migliore per sempre
She really is super, and well done for bringing some of the rest of the band in this video! Such a beautiful lady too, though I really like the different music. Brilliant live they are!
poor aznavour
@Baskerville22 Wtf are you talking about? Define singing please.
@Baskerville22 Pretend singing? I'm pretty sure she's not pretending.
112 people need to see the ear doctor.
I love it.
110 justin bieber fans saw this video ...
cross beteween Tea Leoni and Dolores O'Riordan (a random thought)
Is this a Siouxsie rip-off or what?
suzanne and I hehehe
@MariannaNimega If you really think this, you should see "Rider To Sea" which better demonstrates not only her competence as a guitarist, but also her original circular strumming technique which produces a harp-like sound. Jezebel is a cover and she hasn't really strayed too far from the original, but I personally don't think it's necessary for every song to showcase her guitar playing in order for it to be considered 'good'.
any other gay guys feeling an unnatural sexual attraction toward her? O.o
Awful shit.
@913charlotte = thanks2many live clips we can see what range she presents vocally & guitarwise. Not unlike early PJ Harvey, another blues influenced guitarist w/powerful voice =has 2 instruments=vox & guitar that both seem to be able to be expressive from whisper/twang to scream/belt out/wail & thunder range. So for restrained yet great guitarchops tune= go to youtube clip ending with /TDQVJ5CQimM & for noguitar but full on chanteusepowered vocals= go2 youtube clip ending in /cb9fAs1AfIM
@chrisspitzman =as there seem to be very few women who sing in this vocal range it is great to hear another.
...and as Anna is covering the incredible Edith Piaf who sang in this range long long ago (listen to the clip Edith Piaf - Jezebel..or the infamous one of the greatest torchsongs of all time=La Vie en Rose) so she may be influenced by Siouxsee who probably was influenced by Edith too. Thank goodness for Edith & Siouxsee and..esp since those 2 arent active anymore..Anna. Brava ladies!
considering she is so softly spoken, she has an amazing singing voice!
@lordtuck39
I agree. This is painful to listen to. Its like a Chavvy Lorry driver in the Valleys following a pit pony
Do you even know what that means?
" A truly awful singer"!! I saw her live last sunday. It was the best gig I have been to in twenty years. I was absolutely mesmerised by her incredible voice and music.
"You'd nail her" - don't reckon you're going to get many thumbs up with comments like that . Anyway, she's gay.
In the lineage with Diamanda
@oleumpancake Youve got no ear for it mate..........shes got a very powerful voice and great range....go see her live then make a comment....youll be blown away....believe me.
@oleumpancake She's an amazing singer you sexist dickweed
So Siousxie Sioux...
@EverWatchfulEyeXIX
@EverWatchfulEyeXIX
Si vabbè!, io questa manco la conosco, la vado a vedè stasera x scriverci 1 articolo... ma m'ha fatto ridere il tuo commento! sei uno di quei ragazzini esaltati che conoscono a memoria 4 gruppi in croce vero? :)
Se devi fare 1 paragone fallo almeno pertinente! MA COSA CENTRANO I DREAM CON QUESTA???
ahahahahahahah!!!! che pischelli!!!!!!! xD
She reminds my of Kelli Garner a bit.
Original is from Edith Piaf I think
what a classy bitch, proudly strumming her telecaster, just like pj, not comparing.
@jefflaurents - What do you want? She does a completely different version to Frankie Lane. If a modern artist is doing a cover, I'd rather they do their own interpretation than do a carbon copy of the original just to satisfy people who miss the point. As for saying she is "weak", try listening to the original "dramatic and fiery" version again because Calvi's vocal range and projection is far more powerful. This is also a live performance and you're comparing it to Lane's studio recording!!?
@DWJTX
Sorry I made a mistake : Aznavour and Piaf were just the singers of a french cover of this song which was written by Wayne Shanklin and sung by Frankie Laine....
@JBNewman85
Sorry you are right ! Aznavour and Edith Piaf were the singers of the french cover...
@LEGOFFMARTINEAU The song was written by Wayne Shanklin. I don't know where you got Charles Aznavour from.
@DWJTX
No Charles Aznavour as composer and Edith Piaf as singer..
@Filledudragon76 Duty and pleasure
edith piaf
i think im in love, she looks like a blend of Elvis & Angelina Jolie
@carlitocarlite My personal favorite version is Reverend Horton Heat's cover. But this one is pretty amazing as well.
She's terrifying, and that's exactly why I love her.
Her voice's so amazing and what a presence she has... Best wishes from São Paulo, Brazil.
@Filledudragon76 This song is from the 30's or 40's. I performed it in a group about 14 years ago. There are recorded versions going back o 1951, waaaaayy before Horton Heat.
That last noteeeeee.
How beautiful.
music from the desert
Hypnotic
@Filledudragon76 it was frankie lane
She's so unbelievably beautiful that i can't belive it
She's damn passionate! Gotta love Calvi
@NicelyDressed1 I was about to post the same comment
Get that massive mouth around my plums.
Slim chance darling, she's gay.
