Calexico - Falling From The Sky Lyrics

Well, I dreamt you were playing
An old guitar from a five and dime
There was a song trapped inside
With the sweetest tune
You said it was sad to sing

[Chorus:]
Where do you fall when you have nowhere to do?
Where do you go where you have no one to see?
What do you see when you have nothing to feel?
What do you feel when you're all alone?

It’s a song that circles round and around
Like a bird lost inside a cloud
Cut off from the stars and they’re guided in the light
Not sure which way is up or down anymore

[Chorus]

Tired of waiting
Clouds will be breaking
Soon you'll escape and
Someday we'll find a place in the sky

Well, I dreamt you were playing

You said it was sad to sing

Cut off from the stars and they’re guided in the light
Not sure which way is up or down anymore
    Where do…

  5. Brian Smith

Funny thing is when I first when I first heard this album I didn't like it at all. I found the change in sound so dramatic. But now it has grown on me. I love it for what they are not what I think they should be.

  6. Owl Mountain Productions

  12. Shredding Splinters

Is it even possible for Calexico to make a bad tune?

  13. Travis Thornton

the beginning sounds like a rip off of the flamming lips... other than that a great song!

  14. Javiertr86

thumb up if you too thought that your screen was dirty as fuck

    Kreso191

@Javiertr86 my screen was already so dirty I haven't even realised what you were talking about at first.....

    Julian West

  17. Napoleon In Rags

Been a massive Calexico fan since Black Light, which fits the definition of perfect record for me. Can't deny I'm kinda bored by this poppish sound, I've been waiting for four records for that original sound to come back but I'm starting to lose hope. They were really one of a kind back then, now they're doing their best to be just one more indie-rock band.

    Joseph Eisinger

@Napoleon In Rags Yes I totally agree. Blacklight was my beginnings with them too..and I've enjoyed bits and pieces of there last few albums but the earlier stuff were really interesting entire albums. I don't know maybe they have babies and mortgages and stuff to pay for and know most people don't care to devote 45mins to an entire record..

    Brian Smith

@Napoleon In Rags I know what you mean. They've moved away from that sound that made them so great. Albums like Black Light, Hot Rail and Carried to Dust are them at their best. Though I don't mind this song, like you I hope they get back to their roots.

+Napoleon In Rags Nice Bob Dylan lyric for you username. 'Tombstone Blues', right?

    Justin Butler

Napoleon In Rags Bands change and evolve over the years based on their life experiences and creative inspirations. They'll probably NEVER produce that type of record or sound again, nor would they probably even want to! How boring would that be if a band produced the same exact record over and over again?

    QT KAT

completely agree. sometimes "experiments" don't work. to all of you in love with experimentation... listen to Neil Young's Everybody's Rockin and let me know.
