Caldwell, Bobby - Saying It's Over Lyrics

I walk along
The streets we used to walk
On a moonlit night together
How could such bliss
End up like this
I eat alone
At a table meant for two
And I miss the conversation
Now that you've gone away

There's no sleep for hearts that break
If like me you lay awake
That's the risk that people take
Saying it's over

When I get home
Well I pour myself a drink
From an almost empty bottle
Downing it fast
Drowning the past
I hear the phone
And I almost hesitate
'Cause it might be you that's callin'
Saying you're still awake

Do you miss the times we've spent
Wishing you could change events
Then I guess it made no sense
Saying it's over

We've got to be crazy to ever let
Love slip through our hands
Are we living to regret
Saying it's over

Do you miss the times we've spent
Wishing you could change events
Then I guess it makes no sense
Saying it's over

I love this song! It's on the 'Time & Again' CD, along with many other favorites of mine. He is without a doubt the most gifted Smooth Jazzman anywhere. I have loved his many songs for many years. And many years to come because he's always coming out with new hits every year.

One of my favorites by Mr. C. I love all the unusual musical accents that occur throughout the song... especially the percussion. Wonderful lyrical sentiment as well. I love it. Thanks so much for posting.

I saw Bobby Caldwell last night in Boca Raton, Florida at a very cozy venue - good food, drinks and excellent acoustics. Bobby was fantastic until he allowed a disrespectful fan, who actually meant well, however she thought it was a private concert for her - anyway I'm hoping he'll find her at work and hassle her a bit. He was brilliant, in rare voice and the band was top notch. His music will take its place in the American Songbook, that's certain, as it is written with the style and grace of the standards we will hear forever.

  14. J.... C....

Far out i'd say Bobby Caldwell is one of the most if not the most skilled artists everrr... So skilled that it takes decades for people to appreciate his artwork

  15. J.... D....

Thanks to a jazz station, I learned a lot more of Bobby Caldwell, beginning with this song. I found this cassette & have always been on the listen-out for more Caldwell songs.
