I don't think Billie purposely makes her songs for depressed people, rather she simply writes about her own sadness and depression and many of her songs represent that, which inherently appeals to sad audiences. On the flip side, she has many upbeat songs too and songs that fall into a diverse selection of genres and styles. I think people just see her as this emo/goth style artist which isn't an accurate depiction of her. Billie Eilish and Cage the Elephant are both part of my top 5 artists/bands, and I've found great tracks for all types of people from both. If anything, CtE obviously has a more mature take on 'sad songs', naturally cause of age differences, but yeah.


but anyway, my point is they're both great artists and deserve the recognition for their work.

This album is up there with Mac miller's swimming for me. Obviously two different types of music, but similar themes and ideas. Drug use, mental issues, the feeling of drowning, then becoming more hopeful like we aren't done yet. Great job guys, absolutely love it.

Love this song. Sometimes I have to remind myself there is a perfect place filled with love waiting for me after this life of pain. Jesus is love.

I resonate with this song- my dad is manipulative and verbally abusive. My parents are divorcing but while he refuses to leave home, it's so easy to get overwhelmed and disheartened by the situation. Spending time with my supportive family and loving them is the only way I get through it.

I saw CTE last Fall in DC. Near the end of the concert, Matt came out and played this song. According to him, it was the first time he ever performed it. It was so raw and powerful. It was so real and honest. So much so, he restarted it halfway through because he was still working out the kinks. He really connected with the audience, and it was a surreal experience. At that time I had recently found out that my dad was diagnosed with cancer, and was preparing for surgery and chemo. Listening to him sing slowed my mind down and centered me in the present. I hope that if CTE sees this, they know how much there music has had an effect on me and so many others.
