Byrds, The - Lost My Drivin' Wheel Lyrics
Well I just came up on the midnight special how about that
My car broke down in Texas she stopped dead in her tracks
Just called to tell you that I need you
Just called to tell you how I feel
I feel like some old engine lost my drivin wheel
Took my money on the night train what a terrible fight
I gave my promise I would be there with you by Saturday night
I wanna tell you that I need you baby
I need to tell you just how I feel
I feel like some old engine lost my drivin wheel
Feel like some old engine lost my drivin wheel
Can't say much in a phone call baby you know how it is
I have to tell you one short thing oh won't you listen to this
I want to tell you just how I feel
I feel like some old engine lost my drivin wheel
Feel like some old engine lost my drivin wheel

Byrds, The Lost My Drivin' Wheel Comments
Great musicians. Didn't care for the fuzz guitar for this song, but everything else is superb💙🌵
Later re-recorded by McGuinn for his Peace To You Lp.
Not that one..it was his first solo
Much better version than on Mcguinn's first solo album, but hey, a good song is a good song, right?
Righty has to be down here somewhere.... I must look for him!
Like this version better than on McGuinn's first (or second?) solo album.
byrds version is fantastic: superb drumming from G.Parsons, excellent solos on bass from Skip, guitars galore from Clarence and Roger...........and that voice that runs in your mind........ladies and gentlemen here are the byrds........
this beautiful song was originally written by DAVID WIFFEN,genteman, singer, songwriter from Canada (his Coast to Coast fever is in my opinion the best canadian album from the 70's) and a marvellous "loser".........honor to him!!!!!!!!!!!!
song is by david wiffen (btw a sadly forgotten musical genius of our times) and this byrds cover is fuckin'by miles the best cover with its intricate sound of electric guitars and pedal steel, bass - fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- One of the first songs I learnt to play guitar on. Utterly powerful though delicately knitted harmonies : BRAVO !
You really need to hear the cowboy junkies' version. It blows all the others away!
second that recommendation - my favorite version. not that any are bad, though.
Not really. But ' to each their own'.
I prefer the Byrd's version. It has more bluesy drive with the guitar and bass and more desperation in the vocals with a nice emphasis on the word lost each chorus. I like the atmosphere too. It feels like it has more reverb.
I really dig the Black Crowes version. So there...
Thanks for uploading this great tune but Tom Rush does the DEFINITIVE Version.
