Byrds, The - I See You Lyrics
I see you, under there behind your hair everywhere
I see you
I see you, turned on eyes can't tell lies, empathise
I see you
Warm sliding sun through the cave of your hair
Wind washing fields, kind of space living there
I see you
I know you, met before seventh floor, first world war
I know you
Who lives there, tell old fair I'm aware that she cares
Who lives there
Catch my mind, turn my head, have to look, don't know why
Who lives there
We thought talked
For a while they just smile just a silent thought talk
I see you, sun is there behind your hair everywhere
I see you, I see you

Byrds, The I See You Comments
Wonderful Raga.
Yes cover is just as good. Listen to them back to back and see what you think
The music of the Psychedelic 60s era, dancing at the Fillmore, freaking out with all those hippy chick.
We were all stoned out of our minds.
(7th floor. first World War.) I know you?
love this so much
The psychedelic scene of the Fillmore West.
The West was the best.

The Byrds were heads of their time.

McGuinn and McGuire couldn't get much higher

You know this song had to be good if YES covered it ....actually it sounds like YES would have done it originally ....it really is
a typical YES song !! ...
.... thank God for The Byrds ...& the bees
Did anybody catch my mind? https://youtu.be/HyILxw3Byx4
The era of the San Francisco hippie chicks. Dancing at the Fillmore tripping out and dancing in & at the Golden Gate Park every Saturday in the summer of love 1967.
I See You
Seemingly atonal guitar solos are always interesting. This one reminds me of “I heard her call my name” by velvet underground, yet it predates it. Possibly an inspiration to Stirling? Who knows.
This song is about tripping, getting high and dancing at the Fillmore.
Sorry you missed the party of the century.

masterpiece
The yes cover is better. Don't talk shit about yes. There fuckin awesome!
Byrds were way ahead of the pack on this. Post-Gene Clark and sipping from a kind of folk/garage-punk/acid rock/Coltrane brew. And yet, it seems somehow timeless, standing up well, even over 50 years later!! Great vocal mix from McGuinn and Crosby, manic atonal guitar (before anyone had even heard of Velvet Underground), and GREAT drumming from Mike Clarke....
I agree with you on all points, spot on!
And listen to where Yes took the song on their first album in 1969. I heard the Yes version first but both are awesome.
Why was this song not on their greatest hits, I had to listen to Yes version before I found this, sad.
Woah Yes covered this! This will always be in my top 3 Byrds songs.
Gonna check that shit now thanks!!!
Because the songs about was about LSD that's why they didn't make it to the top of the charts. The powers-that-be took it off the charts. Censorship at its best
The birthplace of the San Francisco movement which was part of the San Francisco scene was a little bit different than the London scene. The Beatles kicked ass and the British Invasion took over America
@Tony Harris it was never a 45
But no rock drummer could swing like Bill Bruford
You said it.
MerkinMuffly spencer dryden
I think Michael did an excellent job
As a result of this album, some drummer mag awarded Michael Clarke a most-improved-drummer award.
...assuming it was Michael playing. I'd like it to be. Some claim a studio guy was brought in. Think I'll google it. If I find out anything, I'll get back to you.
Pretty sure it's Mike on this. Slightly ahead of the beat (which a seasoned sessioneer would never be) and all the better for it, I think!
first time hearing this, I decided at long last to check out the original versions of songs Yes had covered. (ie No Opportunity by Richie Havens and Everdays by Buffalo Springfield. I'm already familiar with the original Every Little thing and America, though those two I had first heard via Yes.)
I See You The Byrds I see you
Under there behind your hair
Everywhere, I see you
I see you
Turned on eyes can't tell lies
Empathize, I see you
Warm sliding sun through the cave of you hair
Wind washing fields kind of space living there
I see you
Who lives there?
Tell old fair I'm aware
That she cares, who lives there?
We thought how
For a while they just smile
Just a silent thought
I see you
Sun is there behind your hair
Everywhere, I see you
I see you

perfect disharmony!
That's what I call cool music.
So trippy so awesome
So old so cool
One of my all time favorite songs from the Byrds
every time and I mean every time I hear this beautiful gem of a tune I think Of a beautiful beautiful beautiful woman with red firey long hair just as sweet as she can be well peace everybody.
Andrew Wheeler Me too
Your spot on dude
What a guitar solo! The Byrds invented noise rock.
McGuinn was inspired by John Coltrane, that's where he got his cool solos for this song and Eight Miles High
Correct. As far as I can tell, no folk-rock, or rock, guitarist has ventured into this kind of territory, and McGuinn was a master of it. His work on "Eight Mile High" was a masterpiece as far as I'm concerned.
I'll quibble with Juan Carlos and say his "noise rock." is my High Art. in respect to McGuinn's playing ;-)
The Velvet Underground.
looking for the 7th floor - first world war.......
The Byrds flew high and we were stoned out of their minds in the late 60's in those magical dazes flying high.
Peace & Love
And Yes dit a cover..great song.
