Byrds, The - Candy Lyrics
Drifted in school
Daddy is a fool
We know someone's on your mind
Women whose phase
Velvet and lace
Meet the man who needs you now
Can you give your love away like Candy?
Down on your knees
Trimming the trees
Can you imagine what it's like?
Lovers lament
General dissent
Doctor's orders are unkind and bent
Meet the man who needs you now
Can you give your love away like Candy?
Very profound
Merry-go-round
Spinning innocense and dreams
Can you believe
All you perceive
Love is never what it seemed to be
Meet the man who needs you now
Can you give your love away like Candy?

Byrds, The Candy Comments
One of the most interesting songs on a rather uninteresting album. John York's harmonies are interesting, and Clarence's guitar work is quite tasteful. Much better than Child of the Universe--why didn't the producers of the film choose this song instead? It fit in more with the atmosphere of the film.
Pretty good song. Lousy movie with Ringo Starr.
the string pull licks before “can you give you love away like candy.” Amazing.
OH. YES!
Clarence White's guitar playing makes this song so memorable. It's a perfect blend of rock and tasteful country licks.
The bass player, John York, was very good. His harmony was excellent also.
several of the byrds later day songs like this one should have become hits
Excellent!!
