Punk is the attitude, not the sound. Media created Sex Pistols as the archetype of a punk band, while they themselves were a mixture of Ramones and Richard Hell. Then they called everyone else post-punk, protopunk, pop punk or whatever. There isn't a punk sound. There is a lot.
