Definitely one of the better songs on this otherwise spotty album. It should have been a single with "Fiction Romance" or "I Need" as the B-side.

Huh? This is widely recognised as one of THE great punk albums. Great crashing guitars, witty lyrics, manic yet precision drumming. Waddya want? Each to their own I guess, I love it and want to offer an alternate view.

Never understood why this wasn't released as a single. It's just as "hit"-worthy as any of their other singles.

I agree, very good song. Maybe they considered the chorus was a bit over the top with its warbling vocals. On the other hand, that was Shelley's style. Anyway, great song.

In jazz they call it telling a story, that is when a soloist seems to turn his instrumental break into a narrative. Clifford Brown could really tell a story. So could Louis Armstrong. Even on What a Wonderful World he's telling a story. You don't really hear that kind of story telling much in rock'n'roll, certainly not on a guitar solo. So what happens here? Steve Diggle--I assume it's Diggle--weaves us a remarkable little tale, completely with mood changes. Amazing. One of my favorite guitar passages of all time. I wore out my original copy--picked up in '78, I think--but I still get a thrill following the story told on that guitar.  Brilliant band. Saw them twice in '79. Long time ago.....

Brick Wahl In the narrative,as I read It,they go and see Buzzcocks play,hence their signature 2 note riff in the middle of Steve's solo.
