Bush, Kate - Misty Lyrics

Roll his body.
Give him eyes.
Make him smile for me,
Give him life.
My hand is bleeding, I run back inside.
I turn off the light,
Switch on a starry night.
My window flies open.
My bedroom fills with falling snow,
Should be a dream but I'm not sleepy.
I see his snowy white face but I'm not afraid.
He lies down beside me.
So cold next to me.
I can feel him melting in my hand.
Melting, in my hand.
He won't speak to me.
His crooked mouth is full of dead leaves.
Full of dead leaves, bits of twisted branches and frozen garden,
crushed and stolen grasses from slumbering lawn.
He is dissolving, dissolving before me and dawn will come soon.
What kind of spirit is this?
Our one and only tryst.
His breath all misty,
And when I kiss his ice-cream lips
And his creamy skin,
His snowy white arms surround me.
So cold next to me.
I can feel him melting in my hand.
Melting, melting, in my hand.
Sunday morning.
I can't find him.
The sheets are soaking
And on my pillow:
Dead leaves, bits of twisted branches and frozen garden,
crushed and stolen grasses from slumbering lawn.
I can't find him - Misty..
Oh please can you help me?
He must be somewhere.
Open window closing,
Oh but wait, it's still snowing.
If you're out there,
I'm coming out on the ledge.
I'm going out on the ledge.

This is the most beautiful song I know from Kate Bush. I am starting to cry right now. The angels grace me with chills and raw real emotion so I can recover and release pain as all should do. I love you Kate Bush. This song never gets old. The sound and piano and pure emotion oozing out of this is magic!

  3. Trevor Fisher

Wonderful, emotional music, so lovely. I really enjoy this a lot. I just keep listening to it over and over and over

  4. Francisco Guedes de Amorim

Oh but wait, it's still snowing...

    andyth55

That's the killer moment for me, but that whole last section is simply stunning!

  5. Andrea Guerra

One of the most stunning, poetic, breathtaking pieces of music I've ever heard in my life. She's amazing beyond belief.

Just to add that having listened to this song so many times during the winter, you realise what an absolute masterpiece it really is. Kate doesn't just write songs, she writes heartfelt and beautiful stories! The piano throughout this is just extraordinary and from the change up at 9:55 has to be the most beautiful mixture of Kate's stunning voice, that rolling, driving piano and the haunting orchestral crescendo that I think I've ever heard. If I had to take only 4 minutes from a Kate song, which is near impossible, I think I would have to choose this.

the more i listen to this song the more i understand there's no difference between our ancient time and the new ones...like a fairytale without an end..becoming child, and grow old is the same part of the tale....la sospensione of the music....the refrain slow and only suggested....i think this is one of the kate latest masterpiece....amusic where you can breathe and dream all thatyou like...thank you...the great thing is hidden in the small pieces..and this song is,to me like a hidden treasure...

  9. Daniel Bromfield

    7:29 ouch

  10. M Wirick

    Beautifully haunting.

  11. andyth55

The best cut on the album. Beautiful. Got a wonderful hypnotic jazz feel almost to it. And Kate's voice. Could listen to this track for hours. You almost never want it to end. Like a lot of Kate's work.

  12. mitch stuve

this song has a wonderful raw texture from her voice, not our normal kate. imo 50 words compiles some of the best songwriting and music kate has produced. this is my favorite piece on the album, among angels second. these compositions are so different from earlier kate. one must really respect an artist that can evolve so much and still produce such excellent pieces. i was lucky to see kate in 2014 at hammersmith all the way from california and anyone who attended im sure would agree kate is simply a remarkable artist. obscure, remarkable.

    Antonio Furi

    it's a so particular,intimiste and remarkable piece...

  13. Test Goober

This is one of those songs that should never end. It just keeps getting deeper and deeper.

  14. Henry Przepiorka

unusual, but impressive with jazz touches

  15. The Collector

how many songs today tell about a romantic encounter between a woman and a snowman? i know there are tastes for everyone and i totally respect that..but you see..the music it means something like magic to me..creating a song,a sound putting words together it's like leaving part of your soul..and share it with the world...when i see a woman shakin' her ass to promote her music i think: well Kate Bush (and many others like Pj Harvey or Joni Mitchell) never show their asses but they show us their souls..

  16. dj micky

this song is my favalit song . JUST NOW . Of KATE BUSH ❤️😂😍

  17. Não sei de nada

I'm going to listen to this until the day I die and it will still sound fresh and unbelievably beautiful.

  18. Daniel Bromfield

gotta be pretty mothafuckin horny to fuck a snowman

  19. Ariele Cartocci

Worst studio album of KB! This one is the only acceptable track!

    Morris Phillips

This song is so polarizing: For me, my favorite from an artist I've enjoyed for 30 years. For others, most often women, nothing. Not feeling it, but for me Kate's voice and the piano are mesmerizing.

    Krystyna Boswell

@Morris Phillips This woman loves and appreciates all of 50WFS. But then I am also a musician, and a contemporary of Kate's, so maybe that's why I get it.

    andyth55

Must admit it took me a few listens to really appreciate this album. Felt it meandered a little too much, but once you pull back the layers and really appreciate Kate's beautiful piano work throughout, you realise parts of it are almost classical, mixing hypnotic rhythms with her extraordinary vocal range. There's a couple of tracks that even now still need to grow on me, but this track in particular is up there with her very best work, IMHO.

    Eloísa García

I dare you to do something better then

    Francisco Guedes de Amorim

Perhaps you should get back on the wagon and stop listening to chart music... This is genius.

  20. brando200012

It catches you for all his minutes. This is why she is the queen of interpretation .and complete artist

  21. ricardo y claudia montes

  22. Graham h

as always Kate, spot on, MAGIC

  23. Jon Payne

    Just awesome.....

  24. TrapDaddy65

    and frozen garden....

    andyth55

That whole melody is just stunning. Kate's range and the way the piano builds and the drums grow in that final third of the song. Just wonderful :
    "And on my pillow:
Dead leaves, bits of twisted branches and frozen garden,
crushed and stolen grasses from slumbering lawn.
    I can't find him - Misty"
... and Kate's voice on "stolen grasses" and "I'm coming out on the ledge"... Goosebumps and so much more!

  25. Jasmine Ghojehvand

    Magnifique!
