Bush, Kate - Aerial Lyrics

The dawn has come
And the wine will run
And the song must be sung
And the flowers are melting
In the sun

I feel I want to be up on the roof
I feel I gotta get up on the roof
Up, up on the roof
Up, up on the roof

Oh the dawn has come
And the song must be sung
And the flowers are melting
What kind of language is this?
What kind of language is this?
I can't hear a word you're saying
Tell me what you are singing
In the sun

All of the birds are laughing
All of the birds are laughing
Come on let's all join in
Come on let's all join in

I want to be up on the roof
I've gotta be up on the roof
Up, up high on the roof
Up, up on the roof
In the sun

  8. R.... B....

toujours un aussi grand bonheur de t'écouter my dear Kate

  9. m.... ....

Love the slow build on this conceptual suite. She starts out slow and introspective with her beautiful voice and piano. As the songs progress, they increase in intensity (love the flamenco guitar breakout in "Sunset" - one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard), and culminates in the song "Aerial" with its driving beat and incredible, incendiary guitar solo from her husband guitarist Danny McIntosh. A MASTERPIECE from beginning to end.

  10. J.... J....

    WHAT A SUPERB ALBUM

  16. B.... F....

wow , that was a reiteration of your old struff. Maybe weird Al Yankovic and you can do something new.

    B.... F....

What on earth are you talking about?

  17. B.... F....

I have followed Kate Bush from the time I heard her first album. It was 1982 when I got introduced. I must confess to you Kate, I stold your music. I never gave you a penny.
I believe you must fly over here to Canada and get your money frome me. I have listened to your music 138 thousand times. So.. at 1 penny a pop, I owe you 138 thousand pounds

  18. M.... S....

So Beautiful. CD 2- A Sky of Honey is a work of Art

  24. P.... G....

Absolutely stunning. From the first listen the day I bought this back in 2005,it has been part of my musical life. Kate Bush is just in a class of her own. Who else could write and record something like this? Genius.

  25. R.... v....

I know the early albums well, but this is taking creativity to another level. I'm mesmerised by the music on this album.

  29. A.... V....

Es muy lindo este CD. Hace muchos años escucho a Kate Bush y Aerial representa una bellísima evolución de su obra.

  30. g.... ....

This is not a sexual thing, but my wife and I lie in bed listening to this as we drop off to sleep...... So beautiful

  31. T.... ....

She is the greatest artist ever. Pure genius ‼️ she is well known in Israel 🇮🇱 we love her and play here a lot on the radio📻

    T.... ....

That's great to hear, our British radio doesn't play her as much as it should.

  32. S.... O....

The minute you hear any of her music you instinctively know it’s Kate Bush she transports you somewhere otherworldly

  33. P.... M....

You need the Kick Inside on vynil FIRST. The forward motion is immense. Lovely piano in this album. Her Vocals are stunning as always. Its all about the whole sonic picture and she has acheived it brilliantly. Lisa Gerrard may be able to pull more volts but her back drop is low peas. Everything is what it is.

  34. D.... ....

Masterpiece - saved this till we touched down in Lapland for Christmas 2005 - opened a bottle of red - the snow was falling (minus 23) log fire and enjoyed thanks Kate and Bertie X

Not so keen on CD1, but this second CD is.. beyond words...

  40. L.... M....

It's alright she sings good .

  41. L.... S....

This is fantastic. Kate never disappoints. Definite headphone chill out music. LOVE THIS!

  42. A.... G....

Oh. This is beautiful - and inspiring.

  43. N.... G....

i dont think something this beautiful should be heard by many. it is much too good for them anyways.

    N.... G....

Kate Bush has been an inspirational pioneer for every female vocalist who came after her.

  50. M.... C....

    A Kindred Spirit

  51. P.... ....

The intro to “Nocturne” gives me chills!

  52. J.... W....

    Brilliant!

  53. A.... J....

WONDERFUL, and the album cover suits it perfectly.

  54. c.... j....

Thank you so much happy Christmas to you all

  55. r.... l....

Brilliant. Album should of won an award

  56. J.... L....

I love Kate but this album is a total snooze fest.

    J.... L....

Missed the point, then. So sorry.

    J.... L....

Yeah, J Lock, you are BORING, that is why you were BORED!

    J.... L....

YOUR OPINION is welcome,I love this but taste is subjective, enjoy your music, but maybe give this a new listen, its worth it

  57. C.... T....

    Magical :)

  58. r.... ....

This album is the one that makes me want to get into vinyl. People are saying the remastered version Kate just released is ridiculously good. Also Rolf Harris being totally scrubbed from it makes me want it badly. He was always my least favorite part and now his parts have been replaced apparently.

    r.... ....

razrv3lc the sad tragedy, is that the remaster somehow doesn't sound the same. In the process of remastering it, back from the multitrack, the balance has changed, and since the remix has gone through to (what sounds like, to me anyway, as an engineer producer) a mastering studio with perhaps a different engineer, just lost some of the original magic that they got so right on the first mix and master.

The replacement doesn't sound the same, and it's almost unbearable to do the mental gymnastics needed to listen and enjoy the album and at the same time, forget what RH may or may not have done, and just listen to it as a piece of artwork.

The multitracks for the Dreaming have since flaked, and although re baking can sometimes repair the tape, it never sounds the same. Once the didgeridoo part has been erased completely the remix with the replacement will sound awful, so Kate will never repress a remix in that way because she's too much of a perfectionist.

My view is, the Dreaming will never be repressed from the same master ever again, so that whatever copies are available on the market - once they're gone they're gone.

For What It's Worth, I don't believe he was guilty of every account charged against him, although I think he probably was guilty of some and deserved a prison sentence. I don't want to get into legal politics, but the law is an ass sometimes, with the law (Crown Prosecution Service) saying -

'The statute of limitation for medical negligence and injury is 3 years, because.. ..after 3 years witness testimony and evidence is too unreliable to use as a basis for fair and unbiased successful prosecution.'

They openly state that, but for criminal prosecutions they have no problem using witness testimony from 50 years ago - using word of mouth only, with no other proof of Burden.

Work that one out if you can.

As I say though, he probably was guilty of some of those counts, but I don't believe that he is in any way in the same league as some reprobate paedophiles. Please don't lambast me for it, that's just my opinion.

The album is still a masterpiece, and I'm lucky that I have the original pressing. After all, it's only a voice nothing more.

    r.... ....

@Clint Tapper He deserved jail for Jake the Peg anyway....karma man...karma!!

    r.... ....

Fin Corrigan I hear you, mate, I hear you. What was he thinking of?
But listen, as I say, he was probably guilty as charged of some pedophile acts, and did jail time. That doesn't stop the album being a masterpiece, it's just a shame that the digital remaster sounds awful.

    r.... ....

@Clint Tapper What the hell am I reading? A nuanced opinion? Isn't this supposed to be the toxic comments section? Ah wait... it's the comments of Kate Bush fans. That explains it :-)

  59. i.... -....

"Somewhere In Between" is just exquisite.

  60. 6.... ....

so well produced and engineered ! not a dull moment anywhere on this album 👍🏻🇨🇦

  61. M.... M....

Is this just not the epitome of a masterpiece? She blows my mind.

  62. E.... D....

the Velveeta cheese part is pure genius....so unexpected, so irreverent.

  63. m.... a....

Kate bush + piano = Heaven

  64. D.... ....

Her amazing music is the product of both her talent and her insanity. Her work can be either distrubing or soothing.

  65. M.... K....

    This my favorite song

  66. T.... S....

I wish Kate had made this album into a movie

  67. R.... A....

    Une véritable splendeur, cet album.

  68. F.... Z....

Kate is simply extra terrestial- I wonder if she knows that. I am listening her when I go to sleep and she makes my dreams, this amazing woman and her art is just a dream

    F.... Z....

of course she knows, we sent her down there, You welcome

  69. m.... ....

    Great Music, thanks Kate !
Each detail of this double CD is important.

What about a new duo (or a full album) with Peter Gabriel ?

  70. R.... ....

Aerial is a great Kate Bush album and it was a long wait since A Sensual World came out. Aerial came out in 2005, I got the CD when it was released and would like to get the vinyl which has recently been released in a bundle with a few other albums.

  71. e.... ....

My god i love this. x to Kate

    W.... G....

    W.... G....

    @Wendy Gillissen Proxtube woks perfect

    W.... G....

Buy the CD yourself, support the artist and skip the corporate interference.

  80. a.... m....

A woman in progress. Since 40 years. Always new. My absolute favorite since she appeared on stage. Look for - kate bush bios bahnhof- her very first performance on TV. A few days before the release of THE KICK INSIDE in February 1978 in a german TV show.

  81. S.... A....

    could be honeycomb... 13:36

  82. T.... v....

love this album and got me chilled in hospital with earplugs in thanks kate xx

  83. M.... K....

This really is a true Masterpiece!!! Every time I listen to this great album, I feel so very good, humble and truly blessed! I absolutely admire Kate Bush so very, very, very much, and I love to listen to all of her precious songs: she's just brilliant, unique, and a true Wonderwoman!!! There simply is no one like her! She absolutely deserves a lot more thumbs up!

  84. H.... U....

    gets better everytime

  85. G.... M....

Brilliant album, truly amazing."The day is full of birds, sounds like they're saying words"What do the birds say in the first minute or so?

    G.... M....

Grant Myers I think they’re saying “you cannot hear me”

    G.... M....

They are saying “a sea of honey, a sky of honey”

    G.... M....

    The Birds are saying....
    "Don't Go...Don't Leave Me"

  86. W.... N....

    A work of genius

    W.... N....

    Why Not Now Totally agree!!!

  87. V.... T....

    Honey to my ears.

    V.... T....

TT STUDIO Yes, and to mine as well!!!

  88. d.... b....

It's sad so many people won't hear this record. It's transcendent.

    d.... b....

Pure genius. I just sent the link to a family brother.....Maybe he will feel it. Maybe not. He's a serious musician. We'll see. Meanwhile, my spirit revels. Nevermind the syntax what about birdsong? Beloved cats here are settling down to listen.Purring. Now I can't stop it. Those poor cats are bored and cooped up.. There's a foot deep snow. I swear they love this record more than I do, if possible.

    d.... b....

Why wouldn't they? Give it time, quality has longevity..

    d.... b....

There are a lot of great records people wont hear.

    d.... b....

it’s also sad that a lot of people won’t get this album unless they’re a Kate fan. This album is so dry and nuanced. the wonderfulness of Kate is explored through solemn and calm tracks. It’s a stunning album to me... I absolutely get it through feeling it... but I think only Kate fans and people that have experience with grieving over loss of those close to them and even loss of themselves would deeply appreciate this album.

I think what’s amazing about this album if you follow her discography, is that it makes her 12 year absence more mysterious and really communicates that a lot changed her.. but also what is still in her//what hasn’t left.

bless her genius. her work is so eloquent. she doesn’t have to explain. the sensitive ones will understand.

    d.... b....

@Ed Nicholson You're right. But people don't want to hear great. They want to hear what they've heard before, what is easy, what is popular.

  89. o.... ....

I cannot help myself but thinking that "Sunset" is a song about dying. Is that just my interpretation or is that what the song conveys?

    o.... ....

The line 'so we may live on in comets and stars' might connect to Celtic mythology and the God Lugh who was a comet. Stars and planets are also associated with gods. It's a song about death but a song about transcendence - that's why it turns into a celebration in the last section.

  90. S.... m....

Like the best summers evenings ever sprinkled with pure magic

  91. W.... V....

I've been following her ever since her very first single in '78 . She never disappointed. Not once. Such a pure, unique voice.

    W.... V....

    Truly, truly

    W.... V....

    She's magical

  92. W.... N....

I never understood why Kate charted so poorly in the US. Her stuff is brilliant. Guess it just goes over the heads of the Pop crowd.

    W.... N....

Kate never toured the US. The American public wasn’t really exposed to her until the Hounds of Love album, and even then no performances. You have to perform in the US to get a big audience.

    W.... N....

I think she's the biggest British female musicl artist?

    W.... N....

    Alizee' was non-existent here, too.

    W.... N....

@TokkaFan41 In the 80's it was hard to put on MTV and not see/hear Kate Bush's music. Warbird's post says it all, really.

    W.... N....

@Warbird Nut Well-said. Most pop-music listeners don't allow their tastes to evolve, or seek out more "obscure" artists. They're content with whatever the radio plays, or whatever iTunes advertises on its front page.

  93. E.... ....

CD number 1 is exquisite. This CD number 2 is, for me, the best album of the 2000's, so far.

    E.... ....

My words, best album of the past 30 years ...

  94. V.... G....

    "Sunset"

    Could be honeycomb
    In a sea of honey
    A sky of honey
    Whose shadow, long and low
Is slipping out of wet clothes?
    And changes into
    The most beautiful
    Iridescent blue

Who knows who wrote that song of Summer
    That blackbirds sing at dusk
This is a song of colour
Where sands sing in crimson, red and rust
Then climb into bed and turn to dust

    Every sleepy light
    Must say goodbye
    To day before it dies
    In a sea of honey
    A sky of honey
Keep us close to your heart
So if the skies turn dark
    We may live on in
    Comets and stars

Who knows who wrote that song of Summer
    That blackbirds sing at dusk
This is a song of colour
Where sands sing in crimson, red and rust
Then climb into bed and turn to dust
Who knows who wrote that song of Summer
    That blackbirds sing at dusk
This is a song of colour
Where sands sing in crimson, red and rust
Then climb into bed and turn to dust

Oh sing of summer and a sunset
And sing for us, so that we may remember
The day writes the words right across the sky
They all go all the way up to the top of the night

    V.... G....

    bless you

    V.... G....

The best modern Kate Bush tune by a country mile
