Burl Ives does resemble Santa and is jolly. Sing it Burl! This was my mother's favorite and I can see her now playing the Christmas record albums on her old console cabinet stereo. Merry Christmas.

Burl Ives was an extremely talented man. A wonderful singer and folk musician. He also won an Academy Award for best supporting actor. Most of all, I am told by someone who met him, he was a kind and lovely, unpretentious person.
In the 70s I was a broadcast engineer. I was a member of the crew that recorded one of his concerts. He truly was kind and unpretentious. It was a pleasure to work on one of his shows. RIP Mr. Ives and thank you for all the joy you have given us.

But Burl Ives read and made up stories as well as singing ; so special he was .
