Burl Ives - Christmas Is A Birthday Lyrics
Sing now a song of joy
Every Christmas is a birthday
Of that baby born in Bethlehem
Far far away
Ring out ol' bells of joy
Celebrated for that baby boy
Born Christmas Day
Sweet little stranger
There in the manger
Sent to be king of us
That day of days
Angels above Him
Told us to love Him
Glory and praise
Ring out ol' bells of joy
Every Christmas is a birthday
Celebrated for that baby boy
Born Christmas Day
Sweet little stranger
There in the manger
Sent to be king of us
That day of days
Angels above Him
Told us to love Him
Cling to Him, bring to Him
Glory and praise
Ring out ol' bells of joy
Every Christmas is a birthday
Celebrated for that baby boy
Born Christmas Day

Burl Ives Christmas Is A Birthday Comments
I have that CD. it's a bit beat up, but it still works.
Who would give this a thumbs down?! One of the nicest and most under appreciated Christmas song i know. Meaningful in so many ways. Love it!
Great song.
*Literally the meaning of christmas*
Thankyou
burl Ives was a crown jewel! thank you my friend for always lifting our spirits
Does anyone know what happened to David Deutsch, who wrote this song?
Ahem, "jesus" (not his real name) is a myth. Peace out.
Nobody cares bruh hehe peace!
The fool hath said in his heart there is no God. Peace out.
Not a myth.
Sorry you feel that way. Now get outta here
Not at all, and you had no reason to post this here. Jesus of Nazareth is a _REAL, HISTORICAL FIGURE._ Just because you don't like Christianity, doesn't make him not real. Historians call him a man who was unsatisfied with the rulers of his time, and the sinfullness of his fellow man.
It is up to you to decide whether he was the messiah though. Peace out?
I've even used it with my children's choir back in the 1970s with my younger sister singing the echo in the round arrangement.
beautiful. I sang this as a duet (round) many times thru the years since back in the 1970s Singing it tomorrow!
The holiday hallmark gathering song of my maternal side (RIP)
Oh, how lovely! Even though I don't believe in God.
You are going to hell. hahahahaha
@Grunthos The Flatulent HAHAHA
Neither do I, the irony being some of my favorite Christmas songs are the religious one.
why do you have to tell someone.?. big fkn deal if you dont believe in God.. but why does every asshole who thinks that they are greater than thou has to share it..? fk off dude.. lol btw.. My late father used to play this album every Christmas. Thanks for the memories.
What a great song. I've never caught this one before. I've been going through my collection of Christmas music to upload to my iTunes & I played this album. Out of nowhere I heard this song & loved it immediately.
Ole' Burl has one HELLUVA' set of pipes on him, huh?:D For me he sums up all that's great about Christmas music!
