Burdon, Eric - As The Years Go Passing By Lyrics
Yeah, there is nothing I can do
If you leave me here to cry
Yeah, there is nothing I can do
If you leave me here to cry
As the years go passing by
Well, I gave you all I own
That is one thing you can't deny
I gave you all I own
Honey, that is one thing you can't deny
You know my love will follow you
As the years go passing by
Baby, so long so long good bye
Said I am gonna leave it up to you
Baby, so long so long good bye
You know my love will follow you
As the years go passing by
Oh... as the years go passing by

And john Weider.
Eric Burdon Thank you for exposing me to the blues.
Sex and Eric....that's all I need... ❤️
This song stops you on your tracks in this ever fast life
Damn I still love this man's voice!! <3
Maybe not the 'best' singer of the '60's, but one of the best - and my personal favorite.
First heard this done by George Thorogood, I like this version too, Eric Burdon can do no wrong!
memories that is difficult to be remembered, in my high school, where i learned peace. today I want to share.
Eric Burdon. Love this cat's voice; rough, bluesy, passionate. Andy Summers also played guitar in this final lineup of The Animals --- that song's coming next.
You'll never hear a 10 minute blues song on contemporary radio again, that's for sure. Check out the fade out (outro), which is a thing of beauty.
The best version, for me.too.
I got failure all around me no matter how hard I tried💔
Eric is right near the top on my list of best all time singers. Love him ever since I heard that teenager sing "House of the Rising Sun." I also don't like Plant's upper register. He should leave that to Ann Wilson like they did for the awards ceremony. I didn't know he used it only beginning with LZep's fourth album since I don't know their discography.
Who plays the guitar on this song?
Andy Summers later of the Police.
+Gerardo Thielen Sounds like Andy Summers like Robert B said and I think it could be Vic Briggs left channel. Andy for sure on wah wah.
+Gerardo Thielen According to the album jacket, it is Andy Summers & John Weider
John Weider and Andy Summers.
The best version, for me.
Gary Moore's version is much more atmospheric.
Albert King's version is my favorite
THIS is my drug.
greetings from austria
The best blues singer in GB, ever!
right up yhere w/Beatles, sSones, etc.
bob pugh the Beatles bore me.
Very good phrasing, presence & feel, but Eric was just not in Paul McCartney's, Jack Bruce's or Robert Plant's league - they had all that plus a bigger range and a mellower tone (but could be rough when they wanted).
Great performance though.
+Richard Bailey (Mandofanatic) Yeah, good points man.
+freudianslumber That's your opinion. I reckon Plant's squeakiness only started to come in on their 5th album ("Houses Of The Holy" - 1972)
No chance. Eric blows them all away - better timbre, phasing, tone.
Paul McCartney wasn't much of a singer, had no range, and was not known for his singing, for that matter. Robert Plant was an amazing singer when Led Zeppelin first started out ( " Live in, Love in Maid), but his voice gave way to that awful, annoying screeching. Jack Bruce was an okay singer at best. Eric Burdon however, had a deep, resonant, full bodied voice that Jack and Paul lacked. No dear. Robert, Jack, and Paul are not in Eric's league. Eric Burdon is in a league of his own.
forestsoceansmusic Paul McCartney? Give me a break. His boring, nasal monotone is overrated.
This song came to me this evening from somewhere in the memory banks of my mind. I bought the album when it was released and haven't played it in many years. It sounds so great to hear again! 5 Thumbs down don't know what the blues are. Their loss.
blues noir....
@lorjim58 Eric Burdon is he best singer of all time, not only the best singer of the sixties. You have to correct :)
That's the blues
"There is Nothing I can Do " please listen close to those 7 syllable notes. This song was a favorite of Duane Allman's who took those 7 notes and sped them up into the classic 7 note riff that kicks of The Dominoes' "Layla"
+burman smith Nice. Never thought of that..
Heart...Soul...Blues...Eric da man great voice :))
grande eric dei tempi passati
I wish there was a video of Eric singing this song.
Oh goodness, blues and sex mixed into one song sung by a sexy man.
saw eric burdon and war at the whisky A go go in LA in the 60's what a voice , what a performance, when I was a kid he was my hero
one of the best blues songs Ever

Sencillamente MARAVILLOSO...
This song is made for Eric's voice...full of passion and feelings...he can sing everything!!!

Thank you very, very much for posting this gem!!!!
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU ! from an old hippie!!!
This is one of the best recordings of my generation (Maybe EVER)
I wore this song out the first month I played it and I bought it when it 1st came out. ended up buying this LP 3 times and even covering this song with my band I had together back then.
that's a V O I C E
I bought this on vinyl when it first came out. I think it took me about a month to wear it out. Thank God for CDs. lol
fucking atmospheric blues.
EVB, classic blues song, dual pysch/blues guitar, what more could anybody want. This was a great album("Love Is") that came out around the same week or so as the Beatles' "White Album". Guess which one got all the press.
The Eggman lives On!!!
The Beatles so-called White Album was released one month before Love Is, not the same week (November 22, 1968 vs. December 22, 1968).
Oh wow! just freaking raw!~ Love it!~
@freudianslumber That rap almost kills what could have been a great performance. It isn't emotion, it's hamming. Burdon unhooks the real emotion when he sings the actual lyric---that's where the power lays in his performance. I wish the keyboard had weighed in more later in the song---it would have amplified what the two guitars were doing. Now, I wonder---how powerful would Burdon have been singing this song with Santana . . .
@ EasyAce:
Couldn't disagree more. I particularly like Eric Burdon's lyrical improvisation on this song. The style of this song is not orthodox blues, it almost has a psychedelic flavor, especially from the middle towards the end. The rap that you hate so much is ultra-cool and emotional to my ears. And it goes without saying Burdon's vocals here is much more explosive than Santana's version which you prefer.
This is certainly the most interesting cover of this Albert King chestnut I've ever heard. The guitar exchanges are interesting. But I could have lived without that B.S. rap of Burdon's in the beginning. Talk about biting the hand that fed him! He should have just torn into the song. (And quit botching the signature lyric!)
ante gia!
and still good
teclados, lirica temazo
had this in the 60s.completely forgot.i think this is one of the best songs they ever did. love the guitar
HE IS THE BEST!!!
The guitar duelling is I believe John Weider and Andy Summers or Somers as he was known then.
Yes, but Who´s the wah guitar at the left and who´s the fuzz guitar at the right.
amazing long blues
Great.
Magnificent.
Bought this album in 1981 as an eighteen year old, somebody told me Andy Somers was on it, & i had seen Burdon with the fire dept. AWESOME Album....
I believe Eric Burdon is the best singer of the 60's since the 60's !
When " Love Is " came out In 1968, the Beatles and The Stones were all over the place and made ombrage to that marvellous 2 LP album ..
I remember having to buy this album and it was shipped from Japan because it was out of print in the US.
The difference between this version and most other versions is the piano throughout the song and the battling guitars. It's just an amazing piece of work.
Amazing!
have that lp and met the man in the flesh in 2001 at his booksigning for his second autobiography in haight street. Guess he's still working on the rights for his first autobio.
this song is so wonderful!!!eric has the best voice of all times he had so much emotion when he sang. THAT makes a great singer
Deep voice ....wonderful song !!! I love that style!
Great song! Great album! "Madman" was my favorite from this 2 LP set though.
Nice.. very nice..
Beautiful..
The best version of this great song is by Marie-Laure Béraud, ex-girlfriend of Belgian singer Arno and a very fine singer in her own right. The way she sings As The Years Go Passing By is very subdued but she sends more shivers down your spine than Eric & Gary together, no offense.
What are you talking about? I don't know where you're from, but I'm 53 too and here in Holland The Animals were a big force back in the 60's!
Best lp of 1968 [Love Is]
great version...big up eric....still love gary moores version more ...each to their own
i know i wish i grew up in that time just cause of the music. the music "industry" has gone to shit now.
Love is, además, tiene otras fantásticas, como To love somebody o River deep..
No tenía idea de que era Andy Summers gracias por compartir esa información y también las canciones yo recién llevo 2 años introduciendome al blues y esta música estará presente hasta el final de mis días.
why did the 60's not realize how good they were!!!!
im 53 now and still cant believe this !
barbie
Fantastic version of this song,Eric in very good form, also the guitar and piano are very impressive, and don't forget the ritmesection
The BEST OF THE BEST!!!
ERIC FOREVER!!!
just great
According to wikipedia all the musicians are English. Burden and the original animals drummer, a guy form family on guitar, Zoot money on keys and bass and his pal Andy Summers (yes him!) on guitar. I suspect that may be him doing wah parts check youtube for world war three by Dantalians chariot for more amazing Summers wah. (wrongly spelled Dantalions chariot is the only version of ww3 on here)
l finaly found this album thank you lorjim58, the best album ever.
gamaei...!!!!
