Burdon, Eric - A Girl Named Sandoz Lyrics
Well I met a girl called Sandoz
And she taught me many, many things
Good things, very good things, sweet things
I met her one sunny morning
Strange things, very strange things, my mind has wings
Sandoz, Sandoz who taught me love
Sandoz, Sandoz heavens above
They could all learn something from your mind
Yeah baby
She is very old
You may think she's young
And you know your time has come
Good times, for all time, Sandoz
Sandoz

Burdon, Eric A Girl Named Sandoz Comments
Love the drums, using brushes right?
LSD lives on
Eric Burdon is like a beat poet. A Keroac or Bukowski of the 60s
Sandoz was the name of the pharmaceutical manufacturer (now, Novartis) that first synthesized LSD in 1938. No doubt, this is the reference made in this awesome song.

Dear Dennis Mohican: Sounds like you have been getting trash LSD or none at all. Because, if you had experienced any pure formulation of the compound developed by the chemist Hoffman your mind would have greater breadth and be open to opinions different than your own. I suggest to you good sir that you find a connection near a university known for its chemistry program. The kids today are mixing up some wonderful batches. Good luck. Love, joy, and peace to you.
GREAT bass line !!!
Animals, so many songs, so many hits, often imitated, but The Animals songs are still hot while the imitators are forgotten. One of the biggest bands of the 60s still has us listening.
willieboy3011 that's right !
this is devil music done right! and for 1967 the bending notes on electric guitar and bass may actually precede similar stylings from black sabbath chronologically!
Chandler`s bass line.....very strange.... interesting
it's not Chandler.. cool bassline, though. :)
This was actually the New Animals with Vic Briggs, John Weider, Barry Jenkins and Danny McColloch. McColloch is playing the bass on this track.
Taking note!!!!
Heavy bass in this song
holys shits LSD. LSD LSD LSD ptsd LSD LSD LSD LSD LSD. NAM
too psychedelic ,,and one of their best
wen I was young I put a vile of sanders in my honey by accident
Sandoz was a manufacturer of LSD
Stupid Lyrics?? You are the fucking DUMBASS who didn't understand it.. LLama!! Bet you never ever took a hit of acid in your little life!!
Not only the manufacturer, the discovers - LSD 25 was the 25th substance they were testing. The stories of the beats and early hippies who were PAID to take this drug in 60s are wonderful reads.
Ken Kesey was dosing on sandoz when he wrote “One flew”.
@kellyrick1981 LSD was once used to treat alcoholism...
@John Smith
I wish I used to be an alcoholic
I'm not much of a fan of cover tunes but I thought The Smashing Pumpkins blew The Animals out of the water with their version.
Dennis Mohican Yeah Eric wrote this song in the late 60’s. The Pumpkins covered it✌️
dAvrilthebear It is. Eric wrote it. There is a lot of that type of music from the 60’s out there. Not unusual at all I grew up in the 60’s✌️
it's not a contest - there is no prize for picking the "right" version.
In my humble opinion, that cover is terrible. Just my opinion
I wonder who played xylophone on this track ?
Sounds like a song jimi hendrix would write
Strangely enough it was The Animals bassist Chas Chandler who set up Jimi Hendrix with his band!
Yes indeed!
a great number. what a great artist eric budon is
Thanks for a real reply that's honest and about this song!
Sandoz!
Melts in your mind, not in your hand!
Freakin luv this !! Sounds pretty heavy for back then!!
Yet another SUPER TUNE by the Animals. Super bass line; killer lead guitarwork.
I play this song every tuesday at the bar, along with we gotta get outta this place. Because at that point, we really gotta get outta that place lol.
Freaking awesome song, love this one and cover of Smashing Pumpkins !!!
Shove that Cover up your ASS!!!
Dennis Mohican The pumpkins cover was actually very good. Your failure to recognise this tells me that you’re probably the type of guy that like to fuck his own ass.
smashing pumpkins did a great cover of this one
AWFUL,PUTRID AND VILE.
JOE BLOW says you.
Who fucking cares! Go to that youtube and post anus breath!!!
Pumpkins cover was bloody epic.
Never heard it.., maybe I'll search it, I don't hate the Pumpkins
This is a bad ass jam !!!
I always get Voodoo Chile by Hendrix running in my head after I listen to this one. Heard Sandoz played by Alice Cooper on his radio show. I'm glad it finally made it to youtube!
