Built To Spill - Distopian Dream Girl Lyrics

Can you make it real?
Make it more than real, more than just feel
We are on a ride
We're on it all the time to the front of your mind

My stepfather looks
Just like David Bowie but he hates David Bowie
I think Bowie's cool
I think Lodger rules, my stepdad's a fool

Without me there's nothing
I'm the only thing that dies
If it came down to your life or mine
I would do the stupid thing

And let you keep on living
And let you keep on living
And let you keep on living
And let you keep on living

"I'm alright," said the man to his wife
Waking up to a head full of bed, full of what she said
She hadn't thought of it for a while
And when she did, she thought of it differently than she thought she should be thinking

Just the thought of it's enough
To penetrate my comfort zone

Without me there's nothing
I'm the only thing that dies
If it came down to your life or mine
I would do the stupid thing

And let you keep on living
And let you keep on living
And let you keep on living
And let you keep on living

  12. Z.... M....

I reported you for saying they sound like Brand New

    Z.... M....

Well, Brand New definitely sounds like them. Jesse Lacey was heavily inspired by BTS.

    Z.... M....

It's a shame that SHIT was inspired by Greatness.

  13. H.... ....

Sounds a little like Dino Jr.'s ...Living All Over Me at the beginning.

    H.... ....

There is a whole category of music that is influenced by J Mascis, the guitarist for Dinosaur Jr. A lot of guitarists who are in tune with the edges of music consider J Mascis one the best and/or most influential guitarist a live today. Listen to Built to Spill, the Pixies, early Modest mouse and tons of other alternative bands, you can just tell a lot of these guitarist came up listening to a lot of J. Mascis and being blown away by him. And fyi, J Mascis is also a damned fine Hardcore punk rock drummer. Before Dinosaur Jr. he played drums in a band called "Deep Wound." What so amazing about Dinosaur Jr thou is that Mascis can't sing at all and yet they are still great! Think about it, it that takes an amazing amount of talent to over come the fact that you fundamentally suck at singing! One final random bit of info. "Buffalo Tom" is fantastic all on their own, but J Mascis produced their first record and if you go listen to it you can tell why, when their first record came out , Buffalo Tom was called "Dinosaur Jr. Jr" it sounds like a lost Dinosaur Jr Lp and its actually probably better than any one LP Dinosaur Jr ever did? Check it out ...

    H.... ....

Agreed!  I can also hear a lot Neil Young influenced sounds and style in J. Mascis' guitar work...

    H.... ....

    Hellstrike
B2S. has a live album. Cortez, the Killer is one of the songs. one of my favorites.

  19. L.... S....

    . . . yeah. It will.

  20. N.... M....

so if i go and learn an instrument my cd collection will sound so much better yeah? fuck up ya gimp

  21. W.... B....

Im pretty sure he means musicians just like it more, they dissect the music they listen to, ITS THEIR JOB.

  22. W.... B....

Yeah, me too, and my stepdads a fool.

  23. N.... M....

yeah because people who dont play any instuments cant possibly know great music when they hear it, get out of your own ass you pretentious fag!

    N.... M....

You said "fag" 6 years ago, how do you feel about that now?
