Jake Bugg has stated that when he writes songs, he only writes them to be listened to as songs and not with the intention of them being turned into music videos. He has also said that he is not too fond of many (but not all) of the videos that have been made from his songs, because the people who make the videos many times make them about things the song is not even about.

In my humble opinion, this video is one of them. The fact that they had to put that small audio clip at the end of it appears as an attempt to justify it. What inspires a song and what a song is all about many times are two different things.

I know that the present day music industry requires that a certain number of songs off an album be turned into music videos to generate more revenue and give more publicity to the songs. But I think certain Jake Bugg songs should be off limits to being turned into music videos by these people, and this song is one of them. I think they should have kept their dirty paws of it. I think the music video is supposed to feel disconnected from the song itself to show how her mental state is erratic, they don’t follow each other in order to portray to us the chaos and unpredictability of her life. Idk but yeh :)

I got the idea that that the video seems to follow the struggles of a trans woman. Not trying to make assumptions, but some of her facial features seem masculine, and she seemed uncomfortable with the way the lipstick looked on her in the beginning. Whether it's about a trans woman or not, this woman seemed to be struggling with society's expectations of femininity or how people should behave socially in general. Maybe the video doesn't match the music because her physical formation isn't "perfect" or "lined up" like she wishes it was. She's doesn't have the type of beauty society wants, her face is rather rugged looking, so maybe the disjointed nature of the video is intentional.
