Still listening in 2019...been listening forever! It has a whole new meaning after recently loosing my water loving brother who I had hoped to take on one last kayak ride before cancer took him.

Best buffet tune ever at 13 I became a fan and I still am to this day Jimmy’s take on life is important to all who have taken the time to listen to his music stone sober and realize that behind the party facade is a son a father a husband and a friend his advice I’ve taken to heart many times in the 40 odd years I’ve listened to his music and it has done things for my soul that religion simply can’t touch

This Jimmy Buffett song, as magical as it sounds, had to be recorded before 1972.

This version was recorded in 1975. But the original version, on his 1st album, was recorded in 1970. I put both in my Buffett playlist.

This may not be Jimmy's greatest song (Pirate looks at forty, He went to Paris) but it surely contains Jimmy's greatest few lines of lyrics;

before he became a commercial mess ....

First heard this song in 81 while I was in flight school. Stopped me dead in my tracks as my Granddaddy had just died. He was a TWA 747 Captain. Missed him so much I named my son RAY, After my favorite Captain.  Now Im a Captain. And its my favorite song and it still stops me dead in my tracks

yep it's a quite notable story regarding this song and that was the last time he ever tried to pitch anything. I wonder what the producer had in mind for the change to this song

This has got to be one of his best songs. I still get a tear in my eye listening to it.

My Grandpa's funeral was Monday and the burial was yesterday. My cousin Jimmy is a Parrothead and read the lyrics to this song at the grave site. I won't forget that.

To my "Twin brother of Different Mothers," Brent, I have never forgotten what this song represented. It seems like only yesterday when we were driving down Old Hammond Highway into Bucktown when I asked you where you had disappeared to. We shared tears for you having just lost your grandfather. Some 35 years ago now.
