Buffett, Jimmy - Changes In Latitudes, Changes In Attitudes Lyrics

I took off for a weekend last month
Just to try and recall the whole year.
All of the faces and all of the places,
wonderin' where they all disappeared.
I didn't ponder the question too long;
I was hungry and went out for a bite.
Ran into a chum with a bottle of rum,
and we wound up drinkin' all night.

It's those changes in latitudes,
changes in attitudes nothing remains quite the same.
With all of our running and all of our cunning,
If we couldn't laugh, we would all go insane.

[Chorus:]
These changes in latitudes, changes in attitudes,
Nothing remains quite the same.
Through all of the islands and all of the highlands,
If we couldn't laugh we would all go insane

Reading departure signs in some big airport
Reminds me of the places I've been.
Visions of good times that brought so much pleasure
Makes me want to go back again.
If it suddenly ended tomorrow,
I could somehow adjust to the fall.
Good times and riches and son of a bitches,
I've seen more than I can recall

[Chorus]

I think about Paris when I'm high on red wine,
I wish I could jump on a plane.
And so many nights I just dream of the ocean.
God, I wish I was sailin' again.
Oh, yesterdays are over my shoulder,
So I can't look back for too long.
There's just too much to see waiting in front of me,
and I know that I just can't go wrong
with these...

[Chorus]

    Buffering

I’m lying back, relaxing, while listening to Jimmy
Stretched out, I’m watching my lovely wife shimmy.
I’ve a drink in my hand to ease all this suffering
When a note on the screen says that it’s buffering.

I’m frustrated. The wait seems so very long.
Is it too much to ask for? Just one more song?
Waiting; and soon, again bits start to stream.
And once again, here, I am living the dream.

The beach on the left side the galley, the right
I’m so looking forward to loving tonight.
And so it is going in these tropical climes.
When my biggest problem is squeezing more limes.

Buffet is the greatest lyricist ever to come out of America. Some of you may say Bob Dylan but respectfully disagree.

  40. E.... S....

I recently lost my father to cancer, and he loved Jimmy Buffett more than anything. We spent his last days playing all his favourite tunes from Jimmy. I've been listening to Jimmy since I was a kid and I have many great memories with my dad. I'm so thankful for this music, as it brought him so much joy when he needed it most. I love you dad, rest easy.

  41. l.... ....

Lots of songs I've loved in my 56 years, but this has endured as one of my all time favorites. "If it suddenly ended tomorrow, I could somehow adjust to the fall. Good times and riches, and son of a bitches, I've seen more than I can recall." Perfection.

  88. R.... B....

I've been in the late 80's at his restaurant in Key West , Fl. after visiting Hemingway's house.

    R.... B....

I too had (of coarse) a cheeseburger in paradise @ Margaritaville, but what I thought was really cool was visiting Captain Tony's (Terrasino) bar- and just like THE LAST MANGO IN PARIS says: "...to get out of the heat..." - it's very dark and very cool inside and the bar is built around a huge Banyon tree and Jimmy has his own bar stool, which of coarse I had to sit in seeing he was away on tour.

  89. I.... F....

This song made me take the plunge and move to where it's warm. 22 years ago never regretted it.

    I.... F....

Awesome! Where to? I moved to PHX from DTW for 13 years, then moved back to DTW last year because of family. I so miss my palm trees and cactus wrens (not the rattlesnakes).
