Buddy Holly - That Makes It Tough Lyrics

That makes it tough, woh so tough
When you tell me you don't love me
That makes it tough oh, oh so tough whoa-oh
When you say you don't care for me no more

Memories will follow me for ever
Tho' I know our dreams cannot come true
All those precious things we shared together
Time goes by, I'll still remember you

And that makes it tough, oh so tough
When you tell me you don't love me
That makes it tough oh, oh so tough mm-mm-mm-mm whoa-oh
When you say you don't care for me no more
Mm mm mm mm-mm mm-mm mm mm mm

Buddy Holly That Makes It Tough Comments
  1. L.... L....

This is so blues and his singing style makes this particular song really unique. Such imagination!

  2. B.... H....

    His most Texan sounding song.
    Really really really good. Wow.

  3. m.... g....

THE LAST SONG ON THE APARTMENT TAPE was Learning the game ALL 6 SONGS were overdubbed by the FIREBALLS at Norman Petty's studio and were the only songs of Buddy's that he could not put his name on to claim royalaties .

  4. J.... S....

So hard to project forward to speculate on what a gifted person cut off at the start of their career would end up doing in middle age or what have you. Holly was taking an interest in producing at the end of his butterfly life, and it could well have been that he'd sideline his own career to become a Quincy Jones like "star producer". His production work on Waylon Jenning's late '58 recordings seems solid enough.

  29. V.... ....

Buddy Holly's place and importance and influence in music history cannot be overstated!

  30. J.... S....

    Wonderful, fantastic song !!!!!!

  31. J.... ....

this song showed the perfectly developed Buddy style-it could have only got better.....

  32. B.... ....

    Happy Bday, Buddy!

  33. C.... F....

Very likely Buddy Holly's last recording to be published after over dubbing -- which was NOT needed on this excellent recording AS IS !

    C.... F....

I never liked the dubbed version. Most of them sounded very butchered.

    C.... F....

@Ben Jackson I did like the overdub of the Jordanaires & Holly's boys on "Cryin', Waitin', Hopin'". It sounded more in style than the Picks.

    C.... F....

@robotnik77 If you like it that's fine, it's just my opinion. I really like his undubbed cover of Smokey Joe's Cafe.

  34. T.... A....

    we sure miss ya buddy

  35. M.... C....

In buddy's documentary , it says that this song was recorded in january 1959 ...

    M.... C....

You are correct. It was recorded in his apartment January 1959

    M.... C....

On the box Buddy dated each song to the right as the exact day he recorded which song. He only lived in that apartment in NYC less than 7 months with hus newlywed bride Ms. Maria Elena. It all went by too fast. Mr. Holly was about to explode on the scene--musically, songwriting, owning a record label, producing other artists. It all was right there....now all we have are these and some TV appearances. And his music. I guess he left us wanting more.

  36. P.... B....

I think i'm correct in saying this was probably holly's last recording, proof if any was needed of the versatility of this great & tragic artist who died so young,we will never see his like again.buddy holly lives!

  37. J.... G....

Buddy dives into his country roots and comes up godlike, as usual. I am organizing a hunting party, to hunt down and kill The Picks. Anyone with me?

    J.... G....

    @Jack Grattan to the END!!

    J.... G....

Yeah, The Picks were totally wrong style, but I thought this backing worked https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hsjI7ekciZs

  38. D.... L....

Buddy Holly is one of my favorite artists. This song is wonderful. Buddy was a very talented young man. His music & legacy will always continue to live & "Rave On".

  39. N.... A....

Buddies songs are so fun to sing.

  40. 2.... ....

Obviously a big Hank Williams fan, Buddy was.

    Me too.

    2.... ....

Ur retarded buddy was as before hank

  41. R.... S....

    BUDDY HOLLY-THAT MAKES IT TOUGH
If there were ever any doubt about Buddy's talent, this undubbed demo should dispel it once and for all.

  42. P.... ....

i believe this tape recorder was,by mistake(''''?'''),given back to the wrong person(at an auction' about 10 yrs ago...thus it dissapeared'..

  43. V.... ....

The truly legendary Buddy Holly!! When you think that he was just a kid when he was taken and then think about and listen to what he left behind in every way.Talk about shaking up the world!!

    V.... ....

    Vortigan07 .

  44. v.... ....

Even playing solo he was awesome!

  45. m.... ....

He was singing about Echo McGuire his first love...I'm so sure of it.

  46. i.... ....

Oh i AGREE with you....my sound quality seems to dissapear through windows movie maker...you will probably find the same with ALL my Buddy uploads although they are all from the same album as yours...best regards,Mark.

  47. i.... ....

Just goes to show how versatile Buddy was....

  48. b.... ....

fascinating to see the tape deck and the tapes and the apartment - great compilation - Love this tune - I've actually played it live and people are surprised by it and like it.

  49. h.... ....

    Almost like a black cowboy.

  50. M.... c....

Friggin' genius and a major tragedy and loss.

  51. i.... ....

Bang on my friend, totally agree with you, thanks for taking the time to comment!

  52. b.... ....

Thank you for posting these great tunes! He was truly becoming more varied in his writing and playing! His and The Beatles music would have sounded a lot different if he had lived another year! To appreciate what is there is great but to imagine what the world missed out on just "Makes it tough!".
