Buddy Holly - Early In The Morning Lyrics

Well, you're gonna miss me, early in the morning, one of these days
Oh yeah, you're gonna want me, early in the morning, when I'm away
Yes, you'll be sorry for the times I cried
You'll be sorry for the time you lied
Well, you're gonna miss me, early in the morning, one of these days

Well, you know a rolling stone don't gather no moss
And you cross your bridge when it's time to cross
Well you broke my heart when you said goodbye
Now the milk is spilt, but you're gonna cry

Yeah, early in the morning you're gonna know that I was right
Early in the morning when there's nobody to hold you tight
Well, you're gonna want me, want me bad
You're gonna miss the best man you ever had
Yes, you're gonna miss me
You're gonna want me
One of these days

The guy sings great gospel music for a white boy. Got voice from somewhere else and that carries on.

I didn't know that. I love Bobby Darin's music. Such a talented and versatile artist. I think Buddy Holly's voice is really underappreciated though. I know he's one of the first rock n roll artists and the tragic end to his life and those that travelled with him is one of those, almost folk stories that surrounds his achievements. But he had such a great voice, real power and soul. He made you feel something.

It was The Beatles that woke me up to pop music at the age of 10 (in 1963), so I didn't know of Buddy and his legacy and influence until years later as I studied the history of popular music, but I would have loved to have seen how Buddy Holly evolved musically. He died only four years before the Beatles burst onto the global stage. Would Buddy have faded into oblivion, playing his songs over and over for his aging fanbase, or would he have adapted and been a huge force, collaborating with tons of younger musicians who saw him as their hero. I guess we'll never know.
