Buddy Guy - First Time I Met The Blues Lyrics
The first time I met the blues
People, you know I was walkin', I was walkin' down through the woods
Yes, the first time, the first time I met you, blues
Blues you know I was walkin', I was walkin' down through the woods
Yes, I've watched my house burnin' blues
The blues got after me
People, you know they ran me from tree to tree
Yes, the blues got after me
Blues, you know you ran me, ran me from tree to tree
Yes, you should-a heard me beg ya, blues
Ah, blues, don't murder me
Yes, good mornin', blues
Yes, good mornin', good mornin', good mornin', mister blues
Blues, I wonder, I keep wonderin' what you're doin' here so soon
Yes, you know you'll be with me every mornin', blues
Every night and every noon
Oh, yeah

Buddy Guy First Time I Met The Blues Comments
Great blues guitarist 100%
Never been a fan of his tones though. Horrible.
Reality, what a concept.
This is hands down the best recording of blues of all time.
I saw buddy play in 1990...he played it with his teeth..behind his back.. played voodoo chile...walked thru the crowd playing it....dudes hair was all oiled and sweat dripping off him in buckets...grinning from ear to ear...going back stage to smoke splifs....a religious experience

Robert Plant modeled his voice after Buddy.
Awesome! Beatiful
Happy birthday to
Mr BUDDY GUY
God daaaamn. I can't sleep at night. And I can't nap through the day.
God Bless... 3 Minutes through the Vid and You see Buddy Guy with some of the best work on film.. Playing like i've never seen on film...
Praise the Lord!
Best version
Inspirational playing! Love the blues!
Buddy’s Chicago Blues roots. You can hear his influence on so many that came after him; from Hendrix and Clapton to SRV and John Mayor and just about everyone else in between.
Yeah!!! You should've heard me,you should've heard me, you should've heard me at that moment sayin' blues, don't murder me...
This is Led Zeppelin before Led Zeppelin
0:37 A lightning bolt came out of nowhere !! Amazing!!
Las calles de Chicago son, para mí, los Jardines del Edén
Mannnn it doesn't get any better than this for some serious Chicago blues, is there any more from this show???
Man, what a moving sound. You can hear so much in this music- the pain, the passion the urban and racial struggle. Its downright beautiful art.
THAT'S a soloist, listening to all these white boys squeaking and shit, trying to sound black, fuck all that, just go to the
originals. Robert Johnson, Muddy Waters, Buddy Guy, Lightnin' Hopkins, Blind Willie Johnson, B.B King.. Jimi Hendrix? couple good songs but just an overrated Muddy Waters wannabe fashion icon
Lol, butthurt
Some of these guys adored and praised Jimi
Find the right bootlegs. Red house 2/24/1969 royal Albert hall
ahhh...after watching for the umpteenth time...what a fucken gold mine this whole recorded performance would be...as I understand it this is the only existing footage of the show...can tell the whole thing would have been stellar....he may have been ripped off his tits on good weed like he often was when he performed but damn what precious grooves
and before robert plant you had buddy's high pitched screams....if asked in their prime both jimi and plant wouod have said yes 'buddy guy is a legend' I had the good fortune of seeing him live in front of a small crowd of about 200 people at a hotel in 1990....he blew everyone away...he played voodoo chile showing us the hendrix style..played it behind his back...between his legs....he walked thru the crowd playing...the best live performance I have ever seen..genuine...blues master
pure genius....trippy outa this world guitar magic before jimi hendrix....real transcending virtuoso brillance
that is one BAD MOTHERFUCKER
So good
First time i met the blues, I was at a Buddy concert... and he handed me one of his picks right at the end.
his playing his so good and raunchy i cant stand it! He plays his own genre of a sort of rock and roll/blues! Hes the gap between rock n roll and classic blues! He is on the same level as hendrix in that “holy fuck he’s untouchable “ manner
Buddy shredding the blues !!
Your the best Buddy !
I'm not your buddy, guy.
God dam. No words for this amazing music........
The originals
Man that is the most aggressive, devastating blues for the first 38 seconds.....damn Buddy.
THE BLUES IS ALIVE MY GOOD FRIENDS
Shit yeh
His voice gives me chills! So good!
I think that Buddy's best recordings happened before modern amps came on the scene and before modern music production came along. Back then, the produces left the guitars sounding 'thin' and I think it works for Blues music.
so true
Beautiful music!!!!!
What sorcery is this?? I'm bewitched!
02:59 yngwie malmsteen before .
Jimi took so many of his chops from Buddy
straight up
bombed out buildings of WW2 .. no...
This is the real deal
126 people never met the blues. Soulless mother fuckers.

Amazing cutural genre creation by black people in America.
The government is to blame they keep us apart. To keep us from seeing the way the OTHER was liveing so we would be at eachothers throat and Not paying attention to what they were doing.

Buddy guy and Freddie King and all those westside guys really were the first to play those fast crazy blues licks which of influenced every blues player the came up in the 60s

The first time I met the blues

Blues, you know you done me, you done me all the harm that you could
The blues got after me
People, you know they ran me from tree to tree
Yes, the blues got after me
Blues, you know you ran me, ran me from tree to tree
Yes, you should-a heard me beg ya, blues

Probably my favorite video of Mister Guy. Inspirational!
The first time I saw B.G I was 17 years old and it was at a Labor Day festival up here in Seattle He was wearing overalls dressed in polka dots and played s polka dot strat he came of the stage walked through the crowd playing for everyone. The second time I saw B.G he was playing a tribute show at the Paramount in Seattle and brought Hurbert Sumlin on stage and they both played Jimi's Red House.

Man his voice tho. Sweet soul mane. 💪🏾✊🏾
Goddamn this is amazing. Easy to see why Jimi loved Buddy so much. This is one of the finest blues performances ever.
One of the essential blues songs ever. Astonishing
This is the blues
Man, this is some nasty blues. Buddy Guy in his prime?
sound just like B B King's Lucille

I think SRV copied some of his licks lol
classic Buddy Guy! wish I saw him then, .... saw him a few years ago, good, but he was talking more then playing
buddy sings the blues like it is a voodoo ritual
Love this guy, so excited to see him this July at "The Canyon Center" in Agoura Hills, Ca.. Buddy Guy is the best bar none!
that fucking voice edit: and this video is as great.
SSURFCITY....I don't think it's racism, I think it's more ignorance than anything
'Buddy Guy' sounds like a Canadian insult lol
Dislikes are from people who met the Blues but had the money to pay the rent.
as old bluesman once stated (who name elides me at the moment ) if you don't like the blues you gotta hole in your soul. as l

that man musta sold his soul down south. that playin is other worldly.
Met Buddy in 1960s in UK when I 'worked' in the business, then a few years later a friend asked me if I wanted to see a blues show on Yonge St. He and I were sitting at a table when Buddy came in and walked around glad handing. He saw me and came over with a big grin and said, 'London!', then sat and chatted until his set started. I just bathed in the reflected glory. If you can't be famous, know someone who is.
bruh that means youre about 80 already?
The 73 thumbs downers must be deaf, stupid or mad. I cannot understand how such sheer brilliance passed these bozos by.
Ladies and Gentlemen.........Buddy Guy Solo!
