Buckley, Tim - Wings Lyrics
Although you've spoken many times before
A sight of birth he leaves you by a door
And now you know he doesn't understand
And all you need is the warmth of his hand
One silent kiss leaves you in a trance
And now you know you cannot live alone
How you know your future is unknown
One day the questions rise
On wings of chance you fly
And on that day your laughs and tears will die
And fall as free as seabirds climb the skies
And you will love when love comes your way
And when it comes there's nothing more to say
And now you know he doesn't understand
One day the questions die
On wings of chance you fly

Buckley, Tim Wings Comments
A chunky Mama Cass doll?
Unlike many overdone orchestrations in this era, the strings (by Jack Nitzsche) work here. Add depth to Tim's precocious but sweet lyric. My favorite song off his debut.
Florence of Florence and the Machine has the same kind of hauntic voice as the late Tim B. Check out her song "Delilah"
keep playing it. met tim at the Kenetic Playground in Chicago.

'Only into his first album, mainly. 'Find it strange that so many belittle it. Great tunes. Lyrics- well... i've heard a lot worse.
One day the questions die.

Tim imprendibile a sera la voce della nostra cosciennza'Marco Fumagalli
52 years and still one of the better love songs ever recorded
Wth!!! Love him.
This is holy.
I grew up hearing Tim Buckley's music. Some songs really hit me hard, love his stuff
this is tim's best song, with the background strings! notice how he slowly raises his voice to simulate birds soaring upward, and you have the softer part. You should hear Jamie clark on his early songs like I BELIEVE. He is the best pop singer.
His influence I hear in so much quality music that has come along since he died....on this track I hear his influence on the song Ocean Rain by Echoe and the Bunnymen 1983
I got to know Tim Buckley songs through listening to Linda Ronstadt records the Tim Buckley track of Wings is great! but i love the Linda Ronstadt version you can find it on YouTube it is on her Linda Ronstadt Stone Poneys and Friends Vol 3 LP
Me too, my 3 best friends lived a life of the Stone Poneys. Learning about Tim Buckley helps me realize how beautiful humanity really is.
Freedom shared with Morrison J.
Wonderful tune.....I had previously only heard this by the Common Market ( Liverpool Five under cover) on You Tube but absolutely love Tim' s original.
Actually I love both versions.
I like this song. But in my opinion, Tim's best songs are "Sweet Surrender" and "Driftin'".
I fucking love strings.
If you are dissapointed with this song then maybe Tim Buckley isn't your cup of tea. This song transports me to so many places. Such an awesome song and I'm not even a 60s person. I grew up during the 80s.
I got this first time around in the 60's...and to this day I still love it as much..
Tim was a fantastic talent and the version of this tune by the Common Market ( actually the Liverpool Five) was a wonderful tribute . Well worth checking out on You Tube.
@MB300TE Gotta agree with you that Common Market ( aka LP5) version is actually a fabulous tribute to Tim whom they obviously admired long before any other Brit groups.
Don't know which version is more beautiful: his or Hedge & Donna's. Who cares, both incredible.
Wow, this is gorgeous and I'm ashamed to say I'd never heard of him.
isn't it odd that this song doesn't appear on any of his "best of'''... albums.....I think it his best
he was a very special singer in the late 60's early 70's
great SpaceOdysee. Thanks for posting it. wonderful!
Fabulous tune with wonderful lyrics from Tim. But do yourself a favor and check out the 1967 version by the Common Market ( actually the Liverpool Five under cover).
19 year old Tim showing us his talent ! ^____^
poet and his inner poetry of heart
thanks so much for posting this ! He is wonderful!
