Buckley, Tim - I Must Have Been Blind Lyrics

Here I am believin' words again
Here I am tryin' to find your love again
Here I am down on my knees again
Prayin' for a love
That we used to know

Both of us know
How hard it is to love
And let it go
Both of us know
How hard it is to go on living that way
When so few understand what it means
To fall in love
And so few know how hard it is to live without it
I must have been blind
I must have been blind
Lord, I must have been blind

To hold something real
And not believe it
To live in her life
And never trustin'
To give all you know and never feel it
To hold back each day
Until it dies away

Both of us know
How hard it is to love
And let it go
Both of us know
How hard it is to go on
Living that way
When so few understand what it means
To fall in love
And so few know how hard it is to live without it
I must have been blind
I must have been blind
Lord, I must have been blind

  23. d.... ....

I know this song best from its cover by "This Mortal Coil." Knowing and loving it so much, I wanted to hear the original. I didn't care at all for his version of "Song To The Siren," but this is really good. I like it quite a bit. :)

    d.... ....

@darkridr25 "his version" you mean the definitive and original version?

    d.... ....

    @TheGreatUtopiaCat
I believe I had made that clear in the previous sentence where I mentioned that I wanted to hear the original....

    d.... ....

@darkridr25 ohhh k when u say his u mean this mortal coil nvm yeah i think tim's (the original) is the best version, next up would be john frusciante's cover from the empyrean

    d.... ....

Ah, I haven't heard John Frusciante's version yet. I'll look that up soon. Thanks for that. :)

  24. B.... ....

    Masterpiece.

  25. d.... b....

exact same happened to me about 6 mon earlier on the promo album, my step dad was a disc jockey

  26. T.... D....

That Zappa collection is where I first heard it and I agree completely with you on it still being one of the most beautiful songs ever.

    T.... D....

I had that album too, "Zapped", love this tune..

  27. h.... ....

great song - foreshadowed the wonderful 70s when jazz invaded pop music big time ..steely dan, michael franks, joni mitchell, bobby caldwell, gato barbieri, chick corea, sergio mendes, manhattan transfer, earth wind and fire, crusaders ....and i know i left a lot out

  28. R.... W....

so beautiful!!! it always makes me cry...

  29. C.... N....

Every day we must be, and can be, grateful for the little things.
Today, I am grateful for knowing Tim's music. :)
Without youtube and many of its fabulous uploaders, I wouldn't know nearly as much of it though, so thanks to them too!

Tim's Little Sister was one of my Besties..
Tim, had a jade earring, his lovely Brilliant Sister (whom, changed her name and went to, Ireland. She never wanted her success on, her own merit etc) Tim, was hardly a Poet, Larry Becket was the lyricist. Tim was Friends with Zappa, some of Zappa's musicians Buzz. I, forget his last name, (anyway, they Played on Starsailer) I remember when Timmy's Sister first saw Jeff ( she was only 5 years older than her nephew. She concluded that Hereditary trumped Environment.. She said they both shuffled when they walked and he looked like an apparition..
Tim's gifts were infinate. His octave range was magnificent and he took banjo lessons and taught himself how to play the guitar. He was a Prankster and his Mom entrusted Tim to take care of his Little Sister, she actually took, care of him.. I miss him.
BTW: He went to High School with Jackson Browne, Larry Beckett ( Check out Beckett's Books) and Van Dyke Parks.. Imagine that " Prom". Tim, him a record deal) He wasn't a dead-beat Dad, Jeff's Mother moved and married so many times, Tim, was only allowed to see his beloved Son, Twice.
Dream Letter, was recorded at his rented house in Malibu, where the waves ebbed and flowrd, under the house, that Song was written for Jeff. Blue Melody, was written for His Mother, Elaine..
Tim was the most Underated Talent because he was progressive. He did it His Way.. Which, is the Buckley Mantra. God Rest, Timmy (Magical Minstrel) and Jeff, (the seeker.)
Most of all Bless Tim's Sister, who has endured more loss and pain that a lesser mortal could never endure. Her "Irish Gallows Humour", "Superior Intellect" & altruisticism.
She is the "Last of her Tribe of Unicorns".
Lastly, Taylor Buckley. was Tim's Second Wive's Son.
Tim adopted him. In Tim's 20's he was Supporting Two Families.

@Minx Minx thank you for this bit of History. I never missed Tim when he came to Detroit to perform. The last time I saw him was when he opened for Aerosmith. I believe it wasn't long after that that he passed away. Listening to this brings back so many memories.

  34. M.... C....

never heared something so true and amazing before

  35. B.... ....

One of the most AWESOME songs I have listened to in my life......

  36. w.... ....

@HeidiIvy dont thank youtube thank spaceodyssee0 for uploading so many tim vids.

  37. B.... ....

@2010sjf One of the few thinks I do NOT like about Zappa is that he owned the rights for Blue Afternoon and Starsailor, but he (or the family trust) never bothered to release them on CD. They do NOT exist in CD format except for a very rare and limited edition by a minor label.

  38. D.... L....

@shamandance53 omg... how could you sell that album?

  39. P.... ....

this song is exactly how i feel...
    strong lyrics..
i wouldnt dare to think something like that could possibly be true...

  40. s.... ....

Thank you so much for putting this up on You Tube. I actually had this song on that Bizarre Frank Zappa album; and like an idiot I let it go in an auction. It may be my favorite song, ever! Thank you, thank you!

  41. c.... ....

To be quiet honest, I prefer the This Mortal Coil version. I think it sounds more haunting and desolate.

  42. B.... ....

    Another masterpiece.Thank you Tim
