Buckinghams, The - You Lyrics

Whispering only birds could hear
Thinking only of you
Sighing softly I see your face, again

Stepping through gentle pools of rain
Rippling up our reflection
Will we be as we are today, my love

Time has brought us together
This we feel with our hearts
Living seems all the better
Love is like a flowers start

Time has brought us, together
This we feel, with our hearts
Living seems, all the better
Love is like a flowers start

Time has brought us together
This we feel with our hearts
Living seems all the better
Love is like a flowers start

Time has brought us, together
This we feel, with our hearts
Living seems, all the better
Love is like a flowers start

Whispering only birds could hear
Thinking only of you
Sighing softly I see your face, again

Omigosh .. the memories this brings back!

  3. M.... ....

Sad to hear that group co-founder Marty Grebb ended his life on 01 January 2020 at age 73. What a tragedy.

I really wasn't a fan of the smothers Brothers TV show.... But they had incredible music on that show I have to admit.. all the bands appeared on it..

  9. B.... W....

My older brother was the stage manager for them, along with Chicago, and Pocco, I helped drive the Pocco equipment truck cross country in 1970, what free, and easy FUN times those were. I am glad to have made it to this day.

  10. f.... ....

RIP Jon Jon, Buckinghams great drummer!

  12. J.... S....

All The Buckinghams songs have the word "cwy" in it.... er "cry."

  13. C.... F....

the drum in this song are way ahead of its time    just fabulous

  14. l.... m....

Ask urself that 20 million dollars??????????????????

  15. E.... M....

I DATED NICK FORTUNA BACK IN THE 60' AND HE WAS A GREAT SINGER AND GUITARIST
THEN AS WELL AS NOW. KEEP IT UP, EILEEN W., FROM MORTON GROVE, ILLINOIS

  16. R.... Z....

    Sounds like the 45!

  17. s.... ....

Playing live to with your recorded track?
They should be in the R&R Hall of Fame.

    s.... ....

That was common in the '60s on these kind of shows.

  18. E.... B....

Dennis makes me proud to be a Virgo!!!!!

  19. B.... M....

ya..and unlike the Rap and Hip-Hop jerks in backwards hats and baggy shorts who sneer, scowl, and frown, the bands of yore actually had lads that dressed, smiled, and not posture or pout about..imagine that.

  20. B.... M....

Nothing like a Z legged Vox Continental organ to accentuate the mid 60's Brittish invasion/American band sound. The Hammond organ is overated in my opinion. Yes, l care, and l even think this tune tops 'Kind of a drag'.

  21. W.... M....

Dennis Tufano and the Buckinghams really cranked out the hits in the mid to late 60's. Music was never better than and especially the groups coming out of Cleveland and Chicago!

  22. M.... m....

I wish this was live. They had the skill to perform live so I dont understand why the producers didnt let them play.

    M.... m....

    Network budgeting.

  23. s.... c....

    1:16 love

  24. y.... ....

    1:16 love

  25. m.... ....

"I'm standing here all alone, without a girl of my own....." We guys can relate to that line.

  26. w.... ....

F*ck you Smothers Bros. You wish you had a hit as big as this !  Grateful for your show... but you were never a 60's band. Thanks for the anti-establishment sentiment and booking controversial acts Beyond that....you were lucky to have a TV show and we were damn lucky you were idiots. PS: love you guys and thanks for the awesome memories !

  27. L.... L....

They got their name because it was the British Invation and they thought they could make it better with a name like the Buckinghams.

    L.... L....

A major landmark in Chicago is...Buckingham Fountain. This was where the idea for the name originated.

  28. J.... F....

So great to be able to relive the great times with a timeless tune like this. Far and away my favorite of their many great tunes. Dennis singing live was great.

  29. u.... ....

    Not live...

  30. H.... D....

SING IT DENNIS......ONE OF THE GREATEST GROUPS OF ALL TIME !!!

  31. F.... S....

TOTALLY LOVE THIS! Thanks so much for posting!

  32. W.... N....

Nice FAKE video! Don't make it too obvious now!

  33. G.... S....

A very hip jam from the sizzling sixties! Viva!

  34. j.... i....

The Smothers Brothers...and The Buckinghams!!! 👍

  35. a.... r....

    Two words- sixty-seven...

  36. B.... S....

My favorite group singing the songs we remember. Love that Vox Continental (but they used a Farfisa organ in the recording of "Kind of a Drag, my all-time favorite song).

  37. M.... S....

    Casino days. Love it. Ktf

  38. A.... ....

    Wonderful song and great band

  39. A.... S....

    Another great oldie

  40. c.... j....

What a great song from the year 1967 when I was 15! LOVE this group for this song!Thank you for this post. So great to see Dennis Tufano sing this favorite of mine!!!

    c.... j....

I was 12, man what a great time.

  41. c.... j....

He also did HEY BABY THEY'RE PLAYING OUR SONG!!!!!!!

  42. c.... j....

DENNIS TUFANO SINGING!!!! WOW this is so GREAT!

  43. S.... ....

He gets a helluva sound out of that guitar...almost sounds like a horn section. All kidding aside, props to Dennis Tufano for doing the vocals live against the backing track. The "double-track" effect gives the sound nice texture.

  44. j.... b....

Was a big tune on the Northern Soul scene in the uk

    j.... b....

Good show mate...ripping!!, New Zealand Bob.

  45. S.... T....

Who the hell drums like that.

    S.... T....

Ummm well THAT guy does and it's amazing. He's a machine! Perfect pocket and great fills and rolls.

    S.... T....

Sugar Cane some one who passed the test time.try not to talk,u just dig a little deeper.

    S.... T....

l dont prefer so many tricky drum fills personally, but the "who the hell drums like that" responce from me is why are his symbols so high? Striking them with a high/awkward reaching goofy angle. Thats my only pick. It doesnt look 'cool', but l appreciate his good nature and he smiles, unlike most premadonna musicians since the late 60's.

  46. B.... W....

How about the music here. Memories of the army.and couldn't wait to get back to see the gang!

  47. S.... S....

GREAT RECORD remembered many moons ago kTF everyone ❤ ❤ ❤

  48. L.... M....

Very pretty song and very sixties like style.

  49. P.... ....

    A Ho does not care.

  50. j.... G....

I love this music. It's so relaxing for me. (:

    j.... G....

j Gutierrez...The Buckinghams (de Chicago) ...tuvieron otros temas musicales tan impactantes y bonitas del "desamor", dignas de escucharse, como..."Susan"..."You Misunderstand Me"..."Have Mercy on Me"..."Hey Baby"...y "Kind of a Drag"...😀

  51. G.... D....

Dennis Tufano is still singing. He sounds and looks great

  52. D.... T....

Wow! Beautiful! This is what I'm all about, beautiful music like this!

  53. b.... p....

I also grew up in this era. The music in the 60s and 70s can't be reproduced in these times. The songs told a story then, no Auto tune, the artists actually could sing. very little Bling just good music that would touch your heart. I believe that todays music will be gone 40/50 years from now.

  54. e.... ....

Big Northern Soul record in the UK circa 1977

    e.... ....

Nobody in the USA gives a flying F*CK if this was a big "Northern Soul Record" in the UK during 1977.

  55. B.... a....

They didn't have to so desperately pretend to be British to be a big success! Heck, the bass player is even playing a Hofner bass which is the same model that Paul McCartney played!

  56. D.... O....

It sounds like he was singing over the record....I could hear
the two voices which don't always line up in this song.

    D.... O....

Yes, that's a nice doubling effect.

  57. W.... M....

one of my favorites from 1967 - Dennis Tufano and the guys from Chicagoland!

  58. a.... ....

Love this music, so simple and sweet. Heard it in Whataburger on the radio years back, and was hooked!

  59. L.... G....

this is some of the best music in the world. this day and age you never hear anything like it!!!

  60. w.... ....

    Oh such sweet music

  61. r.... m....

Jon Jon hated "playing dress up" for appearances. RIP

  62. N.... S....

    oldie but goodie

  63. S.... ....

The entire group was sexy...the youth, the song, the era. But Tufano was the shining star of the band with the voice and good looks.

  64. S.... ....

A VERY UNDERATED GROUP, THE BUCKINGHAMS WERE ONE HELL OF GROUP OF THE 60'S. THESE GUYS HAVE SOME DAMN GOOD TUNES!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

    S.... ....

who says so you? I bought there albums 45s ,one of my fav, groups back than,

    S.... ....

OK, SO FULLY READ MY COMMENT!!!!!.

    S.... ....

Dont fret Sick, Peter's being a bonehead, we care.

    S.... ....

@Bob Malack THANKS BM, I CARE TO. ROCK ON MAN !!!.

    S.... ....

Why aren’t they in the rock n roll hall of fame

  65. m.... ....

These guys owned Chicago back in the day. They were even regulars at the original Playboy Mansion.

    m.... ....

At a time when local radio were able to give local bands a format to shine. WLS and WCFL in Chicago gave local bands their chance. The Cryan Shames were another local favorite.

  66. E.... C....

    Great music!!

  67. h.... f....

I'm 49. I listen to Wilco, Arcade Fire, Bright Eyes, Foster the People, The National, Radiohead... in the 80s I listened to U2, Simple Minds, REM, the DBs, Squeeze, so my music CRED is substantial... I demand alot from the music I listen to. This killer of a song from the 60s would play on AM radio in the 70s as a staple for years so I grew up with it. But it stands as a timeless classic. The opening drum fill lead, that perfect 60s horn section lead and then the emotional whallup of heartbreak in that great melodic verse & chorus... "If you don't love me, why don't you tell me..." all while the Mellotron keyboard chimes its bars and then as the middle chorus rises & rises... "don't you care, caaare, caaaare, caaaaaaare... oooooooh, ma ma ma ma baby" a perfect vocal phrasing followed by the PERFECTION of a low melancholic horn section fade... heartbreak never sounded so good.

    h.... f....

hotel foxtrot ...IT'S A PERFECTLY- PERFORMED-AND- RECORDED GREAT SONG...WITH LOTS OF FEELINGS IN IT...😌

    h.... f....

A great description of this song. The “hmmmm....my baby” part always reminds me of early Neil Diamond.

    h.... f....

    the Db's, yes!

  68. g.... ....

I'm going back to then ...want to come with me ...that's where my happy of happiness is .....I've got to find the way back and then I'm going...

    g.... ....

gacj2010 It's a deal. I hope it's soon. I'm going crazy with the way things are now.

    g.... ....

@smokiebird06 Thought it was just me ..
Hope help is on its way...soon...maybe

    g.... ....

gacj2010 Seems like our country is headed for a huge trainwreck and there's nothing the average guy or girl can do about it. Very frustrating and scary.

    g.... ....

@smokiebird06 Been that way for a while ...has to change ...
Too much news ...Don't know what to believe anymore...Just want to shut it all off
I stopped tv and listen to radio more

    g.... ....

@gacj2010 it's not going to change so just hold on to the music... And the memories and make your own world..

  69. c.... ....

This song is awesome! WOW! The best by this group. Thanks Dennis! Great sound and drums!

  70. C.... ....

Lip syncing so this clip is useless

    C.... ....

your comment is useless. That's how it was done back then.

    C.... ....

Anthony, it's not lip syncing. He's singing live to the recorded track. Hence the doubling. There's a difference. Lip syncing is where the singer just moves his mouth but makes no sound.

  71. A.... A....

Wow,I was in the 10th grade, good and the best classic of all.Thank you Buckinghams.Tacoma,Wa

  72. m.... ....

I can't drive into the city of Chicago without thinking about this song.

  77. p.... p....

just think if this tune was sung in today's world, you would get HD. Also, look at those Hair styles, "page-boy look," only if I had hair like that, in my Dreams Partner!!!

  78. M.... ....

The vocals are obviously live - great job by the boys!!!!!!

    M.... ....

  84. s.... ....

Awesome, I love it. This is a great song. Reminds me of the loving times of the 60s.

  85. J.... H....

Will someone tell me who is the one lead singing this song DON'T YOU CARE?
    THANKS!

  88. k.... m....

A wonderful song, so many memories......

  89. W.... M....

I used to LOVE The Smother's Brothers Show! They are really talented. Did you ever you see Tom and a Yo-Yo? He's an expert. I don't think that there's a stringed instrument that they couldn't play. Loved the Buchinghams too.

  90. B.... A....

DENNIS TUFANO is a "MUST" for all of you who loved the late 60's to see. I hope Dennis considers getting a Top Notch manager, that can have him do ALL the Openings for all of these come-back big bands.... He'll probably be better than all of them and put them out of business. GO Dennis! You are at the TOP OF YOUR CRAFT..... Stay On...
