Buble, Michael - These Foolish Things (Remind Me Of You) Lyrics

A cigarette that bears a lipsticks' traces
An airline ticket to romantic places
And still my heart has wings
These foolish things remind me of you

A tinkling piano in the next apartment
Those stumbling words that told you what my heart meant
A fairgrounds' painted swing
These foolish things remind me of you

I know that this was bound to be
These things have haunted me
For you, my dear, enchanted me

The winds of March that make my heart a dancer
A telephone that ring, but whose to answer?
Oh, how the ghost of you clings
These foolish things remind me of you

The smile of Garbo
And the scent of roses
The waiters' whistlin' as the last bar closes
The songs that Crosby sings
These foolish things remind me of you

Babe, these things remind me of you

  3. P.... B....

It doesn't matter that it's "a cover." Michael interprets this old and beautiful song so intimately that he's made it his own.

  4. R.... T....

Written in 1936 by Eric Maschwitz under the pen name Holt Marvell, for fashion model and cabaret singer Jean Iris Ross. She was my cousin. This is a nice version.

  26. H.... H....

    Oooooooooooo

  27. J.... C....

Nice! The Sinatra influence is plain here. The middle eight is not the usual one, incidentally. I can't remember hearing it before.

    J.... C....

+Joe Carbery This is Michael Buble not Sinatra. Please ,everyone, stop comparing them.

    J.... C....

+kevin heming I know it's Buble! Every artist is influenced by their predecessors. No one grows up in a vacuum. To point out a resemblance is not to criticize in a negative way. In fact, the Sinatra influence is very positive. Sinatra was influenced by Bing Crosby and by Tommy Dorsey's trombone playing. Style has to be assembled from somewhere. The final product is the artist's own and is unique to them alone.

    J.... C....

+Joe Carbery ...Thats some true shit!!!

    J.... C....

    Except Buble sings on key.

The bridge, "You came, you saw, you conquered me..." may have been considered inappropriate for a male singer, but I don't see a problem.

    J.... C....

Michael himself has expressed his appreciation for Sinatra's influence - as Sinatra expressed his appreciation to Billie Holiday, Mabel Mercer, Tommy Dorsey, and Bing Crosby.

  28. R.... G....

Like diet froyo. Smooth yet utterly insubstantial. Sam Cooke's cover smashes this to bits. Now that's some steak n' taters .

  29. D.... G....

    recitative

  30. M.... G....

And Randy as a guitar player as usual?

  31. T.... ....

    ella fitzgerald; all others sublunary

  32. p.... ....

    Love love looovee.. <3.

  33. M.... H....

Very beautiful indeed- but I personally I prefer Emmy Rossum's adaptation. It moves a little quicker and has more of a soft, jazzy groove.

    M.... H....

    Personally?

    M.... H....

Adverb: from one's personal standpoint; subjectively rather than objectively.
"he had spoken personally and emotionally"

    Thanks!..
(Por la observación ) 😊( la corrección)

  34. D.... C....

I have to disagree with the comments below about Brian Ferry's version!  Michael Buble's version is so smooth and romantic; cuts right to the heart!  Brian Ferry's is choppy and clipped.  I agree with Rocafella this is his best song!  Enchanting....

    D.... C....

agree. this is THE best version ever.

    D.... C....

I like this version...very Sinatra-esque. Check out Sam Cooke's version elsewhere on youtube for a very personal and quality performance from 1962.

  35. M.... F....

    I do agree Mathilde!!!

  36. M.... S....

Michael Buble´ gives a beautiful interpretation, but noone sings "These foolish things reminds me of you" better than Brian Ferry in the 1974 version. Don´t you agree?

  37. b.... ....

I love buble everything about him proud hes Canadian BUT no one will ever sing this better than bryan ferry he nails it the videos so cool

  38. M.... ....

PERFECTION..... All is so right with Michael's rendition of this mesmerizing standard,
I simply agree.... One of his very finest~ in a word "Hypnotic", thanks so much for this!!
I just had to subscribe.... Marcie xox

  39. N.... H....

such a beautiful song.. in my opinion it´s a bit smoother than rod stewart´s version.. I would say even better than the original one. I so love the old Buble, nowadays that he is singing a lot more pop songs.. i dont know, his songs just dont get to my heart.. For example , with the passion and smoothness that he interprets this song he can make you imagine yourself in a romantic dinner on a friday night with your girlfriend/wife with this song playing...
