"Windswept" is a single performed by Bryan Ferry. The 5th track is the 3rd and final single from Bryan Ferry’s 6th studio album "Boys and Girls" (1985), but unlike the previous singles it didn’t reach the top 40 in the UK singles chart.

The track features David Gilmour, the former guitarist for Pink Floyd. The song appeared in the "Miami Vice" episode "The Prodigal Son". An instrumental version of the track appears as the B-side single "Is Your Love Strong Enough?" from the Ridley Scott’s film "Legend" (1985).

The UK version of the single has 4 tracks, with the 3 B-sides all being outtakes from the 5th studio album "The Bride Stripped Bare" (1978); an original track ("Broken Wings") and covers of "Crazy Love" (by Van Morrison) and "Feel the Need" (by Detroit Emeralds).

The French model Laurence Treil appears in the music video and it was directed by Derek Jarman.

I was 10 years old when this came out, Bryan Ferry is one of the musicians that marked my childhood as father listened to him. Bryan played in the car on our numerous trips to nature, and hearing this song brings those memories vividly. Windswept was one of my top 5 favorites by Bryan when I was a kid, and it still is, masterpiece!

Gilmour played on the track, however it was Chester Kamen who did the solo

Most probably both Mark Knopfler and David Gilmour play on the track. Knopfler's finger work is very evident, although the simplicity of the rhythm track might have been copied. But since Knopfler was at the sessions, why copy instead of using him. If you do have definitive proof about the track by track session players on Boys and Girls albums, please let me know! I am very interested.
