In New Jersey this is 16 and there is a close in age exemption. Perhaps something was said or done which isn't in the recording before he said this. Springsteen was 23 at the time.

Funny I found this today. yesterday day I was driving my cassette only 1994 Astro van blasting some just found best of Springsteen tapes for a 2 hour road trip. at 66 years old the Boss has been a great traveling companion through my life. thank you bruce.

I had a recording of this performance & "Pretty Flamingo" on a 5 record bootleg. It was a compilation from who knows how many bootlegs cuz in the mid/late 70s - early 80s there were a gajillion of them on vinyl. Anyway, this & Pretty Flamingo were the standouts & I'm thrilled not only to have a visual but a top-notch (comparatively) audio version. Finally. After 40 years. Thank you. Now if they could just release the "Pretty Flamingo" I can go out happ(ier.)

This is extraordinary. This is full of that exuberance that drives his first two albums in particular. They are just so musical.

Bruce’s guitar tone is way on point too. Great great tone from that Tele that night. Timeless. Kind of reminds me a bit of Robbie Robertson’s best Tele playing- the song comes first, great band that knows how to play together all day long, doesn’t feel
A need to take a long lead on every song but when he does- he sticks it. Bruce was a similar player at his best in the 70s.

Wow such a great video of Bruce and the boys very early on! The boss is fun, funky (yes FUNKY!) and oh so young! I love his guitar playing but also check out Gary T’s awesome bass line and Mad Dog’s out of control drums! And Big Man is having a great time! Showing his Van Morrison/James Brown/Guitar god sides here Bruce just had everything! He could take it from 0 to 90 in a single beat - what a showman!
