Bruce Hornsby - Absolute Zero Lyrics

Time is stopped
And I'm floating there on air
I can watch myself, my head is elsewhere
I'm suspended, suspended in mid-air
But surprise, surprise I'm still here so there
Cognition is a billion years ago somewhere
Let's slip out of this life we know, into some timeless repose

Hey come on let's go
Down to 273 below
Let's go sliding down the scale
Way down, down beyond the veil
I'll be feeling fine at absolute zero

Memory, identity, on another self-plane
And you will be sustained (with cryopreservatives)
Robotize, enzymes, nucleotides, in time
Vitrification
Brain-edit, you will get it, if you let it
Frozen

Hey come on let's go
Down to 273 below
Let's go sliding down the scale
Way down, down beyond the veil

Time re-starts
Another chance, maybe better next time
We'll be minus a hundred and ten
Maybe that'll do just fine
Low temps, slow metabolism down and then
We will stop the gradual slide
For centuries end on end
Frozen to solid
For a hundred years and then emerge
You will re-encounter yourself
Oh what a lovely fantasy turn

Hey come on let's go
Down to 273 below
Let's go sliding down the scale
Way down, down beyond the veil

This is why we love Bruce. Be true to yourself and your art.

This is gorgeous. It's like a classic Hornsby tune filtered through a tad of minimalism. The jazz drumming is gorgeous.

Thiz Recording Has Quality Of Experience Between Both Bruce Hornsby & Jack Dejohnette -JUST Can't Explain It Yet🤔🤔

I really wanted to like this album, but it’s not musical, not melodious, and the lyrics don’t catch the ear, either. Wish I could offer a word of encouragement — do try again...

This album is brilliant, not some top 40 sing songey crap

@Daniel Saunders Lot of that type stuff on the Amazon reviews also. They're looking for the 'the way it is' and they just don't get it

It's different. And that is exactly what I like most in his music. No stereotypes. A good amount of new musical ideas instead. Like old wine: It matures with the years. And that means: not everybody will like this music."But: surprise, surprise: I'm still here." Nice ;-)

Sounds great and great songs. Accomplished musicians get better with age

Not a hit of this album. Disappointing. compared to his brilliant earlier work.

Cecil ROEDER you really think Bruce Hornsby can have a hit with today’s listeners? It’s not about radio airtime or sales dude. Listen to this album. Really listen to it.

@Jeffrey Bucklen So many people looking for 'the way it is' and being disappointed. smh. This song is beautiful

I was just listening to Bruce Hornsby on a Howard Stern video the other day, and thinking about how I hadn't heard anything from him since the Bamboozled soundtrack, and now this new song with Jack DeJohnette, one of my favorite Jazz drumners, just came through my thread...

  14. J.... R....

Only the best. Thanks again, Bruce.
