Browne, Jackson - Our Lady Of The Well Lyrics

It is a dance we do in silence
Far below this morning sun
You in your life, me in mine
We have begun
Here we stand and without speaking
Draw the water from the well
And stare beyond the plains
To where the mountains lie so still

But it's a long way that I have come
Across the sand to find this peace among your people in the sun
Where the families work the land as they have always done
Oh it's so far the other way my country's gone

Across my home has grown the shadow
Of a cruel and senseless hand
Though in some strong hearts
The love and truth remain
And it has taken me this distance
And a woman's smile to learn
That my heart remains among them
And to them I must return

But it's a long way that I have come
Across the sand to find you here among these people in the sun
Where your children will be born
You'll watch them as they run
Oh it's so far the other way my life has gone

If you look for me, Maria
You will find me in the shade
Wide awake or in a dream
It's hard to tell-
If you come to me, Maria
I will show you what I've made
It's a picture for our lady of the well

Why would this song "bring great joy"? We came across the sand and "it is so far our country and my life has gone. But the answer is not in Guatamala (not anymore) It might be in Iceland (?). The thing is, the more you know (about Switzerland and Vatican City and the City of London and Tel Aviv and D.C. and the secret societies..the more you know the more you want off the planet. It is 2020 and I had no idea 40 years ago it would be this bad..and the things I found out (MIL INTEL) and the fact that only death MAY ( I say may I am not sure) release me from this sick place...full of endless war, Freemasons, Coronavirus, the Gay (fake) agenda, the CIA and Mosad, JFK killers and the Skull and Bones boys (someone pls kill me)

GJ Hint While things become overwhelming sometimes it is only so because we link them all together. Pray hope and don’t worry. With God’s help and Our Lady of the Well it will all be better. Faith and Trust and keep on going forward. God bless you!

I was at a Bridge School Benefit at Libby Bowl when I was in High School. Even though Jerry Garcia is my Champion, your music fills a hole in my Heart lyrically Robert Hunter did not quite specialize in with his writing. Thank you for posting your work here for us to enjoy.

This song brings me such indescribable joy every single time I hear it. It just stirs a sense of innocent awe within me when the symbols crash and the beat settles out. It's like it gives me a glimpse of a feeling I've all but forgotten how to summon. Such a phenomenal song.

I saw him play this song tonight in Boston - swoon! Jackson and his band were lovely, despite torrential rains pouring down outside the open-air tent. Such an artist...

    Same feelings

You're remembering how to summon that feeling you long to get back. Seed is planted, now nurture it & watch it grow. Music is powerful & transformative. Jackson Browne is good to replenish your soul. Get Together and Darkness, Darkness by the Youngbloods, Helpless by Neil Young may help you capture that feeling. Oh yeah there's Take A Giant Step by Taj Mahal, so much great music I've forgotten about. I'm going to listen to the last one right now. These Days on this same album makes me cry almost every time I hear it, no matter what mood I'm in. So much emotion.
