Brown, Sam - Can I Get A Witness Lyrics

Listen everybody
Especially you boys
It is right to be left alone
When the one you love is never home

I love too hard
My friends sometimes say
But I believe I believe
That a man should be loved that way
But it hurts me so inside
To see him treat me so unkind

Somebody somewhere
Tell him it's unfair
Can I get a witness
Can I get a witness
Can I get a witness
Somebody

Is it right to be trated so bad
When you've given everything you've had
Even tossin' in sleep cause I
Haven't see my baby all week
Now all you boys agree
That this ain't the way love's supposed to be
Let me hear you let me hear you say yeah

Up early in the morning with him on my mind
Just to find out all night that I've been cryin'
But I believe that a woman's a man's best friend
And I'm gonna stick by him till the very end
'cause he's caused so much misery
That I forget how love's supposed to be

Somebody somewhere
Tell him it's unfair
Can I get a witness
Can I get a witness
Can I get a witness
I want a witness
Witness witness

Can't believe she sings her ass off and her feet are nailed to the floor. But I do love her, I really do.

  6. j.... ....

Can she sing? Yep. Is this a terrible remake, rushed and lacking personality? Good lord, yes. Whoever produced this should be shot.

my god sam was soooooooooooo sexy and had such a insanely great voice !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    m.... ....

Unlike all the crappy shit bitches with pointless, non-bodied and utter shit voices now. Yes you Adele, Lily Allen, Knowles, Diarhianns, Shitney Spears, Uglyera , Paloma no-faith, Rita Orful, and so on. Not to mention Minogue, Turner, Dion and the two shittest of the lot as they bred all the others-Carey and Slagdonna itxself. Gross. Kill the bitches. And all the shit blokes too.

  29. j.... e....

    she's good, very underrated

@william5177 We all hope for that... Unfortunately Sam lost her singing voice about 8 years ago due to cyst on vocal chord. She's running ukulele clubs now and doing well as far as i know. You can find some videos on Youtube and articles on Google about this.

    w.... ....

    I like apricots.

  32. A.... ....

Old mate from The Bill @ 0:26

  33. B.... C....

Sam Brown how did I miss you in the 80's????????????????????

    B.... C....

She is very much her father's daughter. He was successful but kept his feet firmly on the ground.

    B.... C....

her father Joe is playing the judge

    B.... C....

Her mum, Vicki Brown is also in the clip

    B.... C....

@britva817 But it's never known as a 'good career' to people today who expect all that fake Minogue shit hits or you've failed!

    B.... C....

@john e Lawler Madonna, Madonna, Madonna, Madonna, Madonna, ask slag Madonna, You gotta be a slag and know how to use the world like madonna, madogga, slagdonna, madonna, ask madonna, madonna, y'know you all lovbe madonna, madonna. Don't be so niave and daft, you know full well once that cunt appeared no talented female who wasn't arse-kissed up to the heavens (Lennox, Turner, Moyet, Adu,, Hynde, Bush and ever the ridiculously supported Minogue), no woman was allowed to have any sales or airspace to herself, until the 90s came when talent nosedived, yet there were more women than ever, but as most if not all done in her bullshit image, THEN they could and would survive.

Sam Brown not allowed to have any other chance than Kim Wilde, Sandra, Sheena Easton, Kirsty MacColl, Bangles, Desireless, Claudia Brucken, 'Til Tuesday, Voice Of Beehive, All About Eve, Darling Buds, Primitives, T'Pau and so on were to. End of. If she arrived in the 90s, maybe. But probabl;y not.

  34. M.... R....

....oh my God everyone who claims to miss the eighties should be forced to listen to this
    repeatedly

    M.... R....

What annoyingly sung cover of a sixties song is supposed to prove about the eighties?

    M.... R....

@BoraBoraSharkBoy No it isn't annoying. You're thinking of the 80s shit like Slagdonna, Sting, Weller, Dexys, Cure, Phil Collins, Weller, David Byrne. If it weren't for people covering old stuff like this, I'd probably never wanna hear the song.

  35. J.... M....

damn, its a pity so few people have heard this totally rocking  song. it is so very fine.  look up other songs by this lady, so is very very good.  suggestion   -  " you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink"

    J.... M....

@James Mack George Harrison was a very close friend of hers. Lovely Samantha recorded "Horse to the Water", last George's composition, upon his request. And many years before she was given his ukulele.

    J.... M....

What a pity this track doesn't appear on the vinyl version of the LP I bought back in those days.

(explanation to the younger ones: back then the CD versions contained one or more so-called bonus tracks, in order to make people no longer buy vinyl discs, given that CDs were far more expensive)

    J.... M....

That is so funny. You are absolutely right. We forget that the millennials have missed out on the evolution of music from vinyl to 8track to cassette to mini-disc to CD . Not to mention the video cassette to laser disc to DVD battles for supremacy of formats. And I'm sure I've missed some out or even got the chronology wrong, but the developments have come thick and fast to now everything being streamed.

    J.... M....

in some countries there was a 2nd pressing of the LP with this song added.  I guess the equivalent these days is bonus tracks on the "Target" edition or whatever

  36. P.... W....

Great song and nice to see dad Joe playing the Judge and Jeff Stewart (The Bill's Reg Hollis as the spivvy boyfriend.

  37. b.... ....

    You're welcome :)
I agree, she did great job here. But believe me, it's not only cover that she did so good. Check some her videos on my channel, like "Drown In My Own Tears" for example.

  38. K.... O....

I'll admit that I avoided checking out this one for years, as I figured it was useless to cover this definitive song. How wrong I was! What a great job this woman does--thanks for sharing.
