Brown, James - Why Do You Do Me Lyrics

Why did it happen this way?
Someone has taken my place
No one to share my embrace
Oh, why do you do me like you do?

I give my heart to you
Like no one else could do
I'm just-a lonely and blue
Oh, oh, why do you do me like you do?

Way down inside me
There is no one else but you, oh
Deep down inside me
There is no one else but you

I give my heart to you
And no one else could do
I'm just-a lonely and blue
Oh, why do you do me like you do

Way down inside me
There is no one else but you
Deep down inside me
There is no one else but you

I give my heart to you
But no one, no one else could do
I'm just-a lonely and blue, oh yeah
Why do you do me like you do?

Yeah, yeah

Brown, James Why Do You Do Me Comments

No anthology of the Godfather of Soul is complete without this largely ignored cut hidden on the flipside of the epochal "Please Please Please." Here he sings that lowdown, moody blues that means as much business as Muddy Waters or Little Walter. This single (both sides) is the complete reason his talent and versatility can't be touched.

The FAMOUS FLAMES are standing on the wall BEHIND James.(Lloyd Stallworth, Bobby Bennett, and Bobby Byrd) . The REST of those guys are NOT Famous Flames. They are members of the James Brown Band.

did you doubt it..? of course there was nearly 10 years of early R and B leading up to this.. the sax solo is almost straight out of a burly-Q palace.

Wow!!! He's singing in a much lower register-- it's cool, though.

    smoky, stanky sax solo.....sssssssssssssssssssshhhhhhhucks!!!!!!

Sax master Clifford Scott adds real taste to this early James Brown cut.
