Bright Eyes - Train Under Water Lyrics

You were born inside of a raindrop
I watched you falling to your death
And the sun, well she could not save you
She'd fallen down too, now the streets are wet

Body of water
Toxic and timeless
Atlantic ocean
New York skyline
I always get lost
When I leave the village
So I couldn't come meet you
In Brooklyn last night

But I sing glory from my lowest
And I will say peace to the people I meet
While the world waits for an explosion
That instant of life
That wipes the slate clean

So don't be fooled
No don't get lied to
Love was always cruel

And don't act strange
Don't be a stranger
It happened to me, now it's happening to you

But if you take that train under water then we could talk it through

Well if I could tame
All of my desires
Wait out the weather that howls in my brain
Because it seems
That it's always changing
The winds indecision
The sorrowful rain

Yeah, I was a postcard
I was a record
I was a camera
Until I went blind

And now I'm riding
All over this island
Looking for something
To open my eyes

But I still sing glory from my high rise
And I will say thanks if you're pouring my drinks
While the world waits for an explosion
That moment in time, when we'll be set free

So don't stay mad
Just let some time pass
And in the morning you'll wake feeling new

And if I don't come back
I mean if I get side tracked
It's only cause I wanted to

I'm keeping up with the moon on an all night avenue

  11. F.... ....

    2017 anyone?

  12. R.... ....

What makes a song timeless is that you can leave it for years on end in the dust without a single play. But when you come back to it, it hits you in a new way , while managing to capture old emotions. Conor's music stands the test of time. This song does. It will encapsulate a period of life. Crystallized like stained glass, refracting light in infinite ways depending on how one views it. When I'm dead, maybe someone can feel as I did listening to this song. That is a timeless connection. Cheers.

    🎸😁🎤

  14. J.... F....

This album is just a masterpiece. Probably one of the best ever released by anyone.

    J.... F....

The Highbrow Gamer Agreed. This album is perfect.

    J.... F....

    No but it's very good

    J.... F....

@ETBH In it's genre..it is in fact one of the best. Although comparisons are always just dumb. It's never really a contest.

  15. M.... S....

Aw jeez this song is pretty neat

  16. A.... T....

I havent listend to this in a looooong time

  17. N.... P....

So many memories tied to Conor's music <3

  18. I.... I....

Couldn't keep up with the moon after a while and was put on medical leave. Shit was too much. I'm better now though. Just graduated college actually :) Would've been a better person if I held on but maybe it was for the best. This song really captures my freshman year of college. Difficult times, but the river flowing now is worth it.

  19. E.... B....

That guitar solo gives me life

  20. V.... K....

    M.... E....

me, too. listened to it a lot when it came out

  24. E.... M....

So grateful for this beautiful music.

  25. J.... M....

I think Connor is an idiot sometimes when he wanna be a "liberalist human rights fighter" like that stupid song about the chilean communist girl(he probably doesnt even know who that girl REALLY is but he dedicated a song and provoque laughts on the whole country) I just enjoy his sentimental stuffs

    J.... M....

Definitely, but he's still a pretty damn good songwriter regardless, with some thought provoking angles on life, death, and happiness.

    J.... M....

At least he's not a grammar nazi.

    J.... M....

Jesus fucking christ you right wingers hate human rights now holy fuck im boutta violate human rights against yall

    J.... M....

Same heart allows him to feel for others as much as his own pain.

  26. M.... J....

    I love it!

  27. W.... M....

do you ever get that feeling where you can literally feel so many emotions at once and you just feel like your hearts going to burst and its almost like you have butterflys inside you..listening to this music and thinking about things really makes me feel like that i just want to shout really loudly how much i am in love with this song and bright eyes

    W.... M....

just discovered this band, and it's amazing !

    H.... F....

    = )

    welcome to our cult !

    H.... F....

@Joseph Ledzion haha right? Obsessed since i was 15, and it still makes me feel great at 27.

    H.... F....

What's awesome is that this band is from my hometown :P

    H.... F....

Do you still find it amazing?

  29. N.... J....

    love this f*ckin song!

    N.... J....

    @Nathan Joseph Amen, brother!

  30. S.... ....

we've all grown. glory from my lowest

  31. H.... ....

This is true. I agree with anyone who disliked my comment. I was a stupid kid a year ago. Right now, I say there's no such thing as a "true fan." You either like something or you don't.

  32. m.... ....

    I died twice laughing.

  33. J.... M....

oh yeah now it's clear to me. how could i be so stupid? i'm not a real fan because i know them not this long as you. sorry. damn it. soooo sorry!

  34. J.... C....

ya this shit is aight but it needs more lil wayne and a bigger bass drop

  35. H.... ....

You know what? You're right. A year ago I didn't know what it meant to be a true fan, but now I do. I was wrong, and I'm not a true fan. I like his music, but I'm not devoted. So thank you, thank you for correcting me.

  36. c.... ....

you know you wrote this msg in 2011 right? ahaha

  37. s.... ....

Aren't you just hipster as fuck.

  38. J.... Z....

good for you, you want a fucking cookie.. omg everyone is soo jealous of you!!... your pathetic and greedy..

  39. r.... ....

the fact that you are saying 'always thinking about your paycheck' followed by 'out into the real world' makes me think that you have no idea whatsoever how the real world works. Sounds like you are 19 maybe 20 and have never had to work for anything in your life lol

  40. T.... ....

I am the truest of all fans lol jk but i do love bright eyes so much they changed the way i heard music forever when I heard lifted when i was 16 like 8 years ago

  41. W.... K....

well, i concur with supporting the band no matter what....but, most of those bands don't care about downloading your music illegally...not even conor cares about that...he said once..you better have a big possie if you want to stop that.

  42. M.... ....

    learn something.

  43. C.... ....

Your just a pawn for corporate america man, always thinking about your next paycheck. Maybe if you got off your ass and out into the real world you could understand that there is more to it all than just buying and buying and buying. The amount of merchandise you own doesn't reflect how much you like a band. Why don't you just go count your benjamins and prepare to bury yourself in a nice diamond encrusted coffin, I bet that would make it all worth wasting your life away worrying about the money

  44. p.... ....

This is one of Bright Eyes best songs. It's sooo...well you know, Bright Eyes. Conor is such a good songwriter, his lyrics are something else.

  45. M.... ....

@xOXrazzelfrazzelMDXP and the idea of being a true fan is fucking retarded. i do not idolize the artist, i idolize the music, and if they release something i dont like im not going to buy it or support it. if they do, i will. its as simple as that.

  46. M.... J....

Sounds a lot like the "Grateful Dead" but good. . .YO ; )

  47. S.... ....

    amazing fucking country sound :)

  48. C.... ....

@xOXrazzelfrazzelMDXP you have to spend money to be a true fan? isn't it enough to just appreciate the music that they create and appreciate what theyve given us? why do people always feel that money has to be the root of everything. they like making the music and we like to listen to what they made. thats all it is

  49. J.... F....

@Hojoky96 watch out everybody, we got another hipster over here.

  50. S.... H....

I love that out of the 8,577 people who have watched this, no one had disliked it. Well done internet folk!

  51. N.... R....

i've never seen a negative comment about conor oberst

  52. S.... A....

who cares? fan? true fan? the bestest fan? instead of worrying about that make your own music..be creative!

  53. H.... ....

@xOXrazzelfrazzelMDXP you know what, I'm sorry for expressing my personal opinion.

  54. a.... f....

    Perfect<3

  55. H.... ....

what's the symbol for a tear drop?

  56. I.... ....

I saw them in Brooklyn a couple of weeks ago & they didn't play this song... so sad.

  57. d.... r....

omg i havent heard this song in a while since like high school

  58. G.... ....

    c-c-c-combo breaker!

  59. V.... P....

    wrecked it.
