Bright Eyes - Saturday As Usual Lyrics
Virginia is almost sleeping
The night is getting older
There is static on the tv
And she's lying on the sofa
The cats crawl over her
Jenny is in the garage
She's got the car in neutral
She rolls it out so quietly
It's saturday as usual
It always is
And me I'm in my bedroom drawing in my notebook
Because my hand thinks I'm an artist
But my heart knows I'm a poet
It's just words they mean so little to me
There is something very wrong with me
Daddy's in the backyard
His hands are getting dirty
And mom is in the kitchen and her cake says that I'm thirteen
Another year
My brother went to college to become a doctor
And if he studies hard enough
He'll end up just like father
Who hates his life
And me I'm in the bathroom
Crying out my eyelids because it's hard to Be a man
When you are scared like a little kid
The world has become a little too mean
And I can't see the point of patient love
When everyone just wants to get fucked

Bright Eyes Saturday As Usual Comments
This song reminds me of when i was addicted to heroin.. The cats crawl over her... Saturday as usual... A sweet facade of euphoria but a true darkness and sadness at ones core.
i used to get so drunk to this song. still do but i used to, too
Ben okay there mitch
that last line was funny haha lol
The screaming, partially incomprehensible part says, "I can't seem to do something more when everyone will fall back."
dude, the youtube arguments are irrelevant.
this is the orig.
well, both. it's called LO-FIDELITY, DAWG!
lmao this man is just describing things
You clearly don't understand it at all. It's not about that. Any song is "just describing things." It's the way each individual artist does it.
Drakoak so he's right none the less
everytime i look at a comment box on here people are always fighting one person sounds dumber than the last too
@markuskentwood The title of the album is "A Collection of Songs Written and Recorded 1995-1997"
Conor was born in 1980, which means when he wrote this song the youngest he couldve been was 15. Sorry.
@Theatahhh uh yes he was, moron
@ERICinCOLOUR he wrote it when he was like 13, moron. more than you could ever do at that age, you prickless bitch.
This wasn't written when he was 13, although I highly recommend you check out the album he did release when he was 13 because it's also brilliant. This song was originally released on an EP around 1995 so he would've been around 15-16 years old for this one. You can also hugely tell the difference in his voice. Like check out his older bands Commander Venues and Park Ave, or songs off his 13 yr old album like "Space Invaders" by Conor Oberst.
Drakoak wow a bigger bright eyes/Connor oberst fan than me... I’m impressed.
This is a hilariously bad song.
Are you dead yet?
@woopzargiepoop I think it's just the recording.
@woopzargiepoop its just the recording, he recorded this while in his teens.
@TomwithOnions the end isn't awful, its amazing.
conor oberst was the same age as justin bieber when he wrote this song. and people praise justin bieber so much...?
@TomwithOnions
Agreed. I am a Bright eyes fan but the ending to this song is trash. Its sloppy and annoying. It really grinds my gears. Conners songs are usually hit or completely miss with me. And I say that as a song writer who appreciates his work.
Well what do expect? he was in his late teens.
the last verse made me cry. It is so true, which is why it is so sad. "I can't see the point of patient love when everyone just wants to get fucked".
also please if you have the time check out my music, conor is my biggest inspiration, my newest and favorite song i have written is collage of pain, thanks in advance if you have checked it out
totally explains my life and and what makes me feel like shit. what the fuck conor why do you have to do this, your songs make too much sense and are too relevant....although i guess it makes me happy to have some kinda of faith too know that you might be like me, i hope you are...please keep making these excellent songs/works of art, because i am now hooked, and as much as they help me identify the worst and most dreadful parts of my life they help me understand them better
how the hell does a man do this? one of the best...ever.
fuck:/ intenses and wondeful
so raw
The end of this song is the best part.
The end of this is so awful... I know it's intentional, even artistic. But I can't listen more than once in a blue moon.
a little too mean...
Thanks Adam.
