This song cuts so fucking deep into my soul... Conor captures my thoughts.. My feelings... My life, so perfectly, in so many songs.. But especially this one.. She is the epitome of beauty, inside and out. I fell in love with her the very moment our eyes met.. Almost 15 years ago now.. She stood by my side as I grew from a sad boy, into a broken man. She doesn't deserve my eternal sadness weighing her down any longer. Of that I'm well aware. But how the fuck can I walk away, knowing I simply just cannot do this without her? I can't... and I mean that.. I couldn't grow old as that utterly lonely man.. That man who lost his one true love.. Because I know every girl would be compared, and fail miserably...

This is the first song I ever heard Conor sing and I immediately fell in love with it.  I listened to it over and over.  His words seemed to come straight from my heart. I have never found an artist like Conor Oberst.... his lyrics always resonate so completely with feelings I keep locked deep within my soul. I have been to several of his shows now and I'm blown away every time!  I love this man, his music, and the raw emotion his songs evoke. Amazing... profound... beautiful... his music has changed my life!

I obsessively listened to Conor throughout high school and then slowly stopped in college. Then whenever I come back to him, I'm hit with a wave of emotion and realize that the reason I can't do it anymore is all I can do is pretend I'm happy and Conor reminds me that I'm not.
