Brian Wilson - Still I Dream Of It Lyrics
Time for supper now
Day's been hard and I'm so tired
I feel like eating now
Smell the kitchen now
Hear the maid whistle a tune
Still I dream of it
Of that happy day
When I can say I've fallen in love
And it haunts me so
Like a dream that's
Somehow linked to all the stars above
Young and beautiful
Like a tree that's just been planted
I made mistakes today
Will I ever learn the lessons
That all come my way
Still I dream of it
Of that happy day
When I can say I've fallen in love
And it haunts me so
Like a dream that's
Somehow linked to all the stars above
A little while ago
My mother told me
Jesus loved the world
And if that's true then
Why hasn't he helped me to find a girl
And find my world
'Til then I'm just a dreamer
I'm convinced of it
The hypnosis of our minds can take us far away
It's so easy now
You see someone up there high
And heaven's here to stay
Still I dream of it
Of that happy day
When I can say I've fallen in love
And it haunts me so
Like a dream that's
Somehow linked to all the stars above
Da da da daa
Da da da daa
Da da da daa

Brian Wilson Still I Dream Of It Comments
Post multiple nervous breakdowns song by Brian Wilson, you can hear how damaged he is
One of the most harrowing songs ever recorded. Brian's hoarse voice and the lo-fi quality of the recording just add to the frayed beauty.
I hear Surf's Up and the album Today in this. I also hear a tragically damaged voice. Crazy to think that gentle falsetto is the same man
To think this is the same mind that gave us Pet Sounds. Wow
Reminds me of Daniel Johnston.
One of Brian's absolute best songs. So raw, so real and so good.
Is there a fleshed-out recording of this. If so, please post link.
"Good Vibrations" Box Set.
Wow, great song.
It scares me to listen to this because Brian sounds like he’s dying.
He was starting to sound like Dennis by then.
Michael Langley sounds exactly like him
Of course they sound alike. They’re brothers.
@SlickNickVids yeah but it goes without saying his voice wasn't always like that, thanks to all the drugs + smoke.
Such a powerful song, this is like peaking into Brian’s room during the 70’s
This is one unbelievably sad song.
This makes me cry
Never know what's true, but a buddy said Brian did this version soon after coming out of the breakdown. Even if not true, it fits - his voice is intense here.
He had several 'break downs'. This was right after his most recluse period. The myth is that he spent up to 2 years in bed from 73-75. But he was known to show up to places like Kieth Moon's birthday party while still in his bath robe!
This song is so much like Brian himself.
love this song, think it would of suited sinatra, shame he knocked it back.
This is one of my favourite recordings ever it's so raw. His voice sounds like paper tearing. You could imagine Kurt Cobain singing this.
You're dead right
What is quite unique about Brian is he's not written devastating songs in a minor key.
He seems to believe the power and the beauty of a major key whether he's happy or not.
Genius.
