Brian McKnight - You Gotta Go Lyrics
I never know why
Why we can't see eye to eye
And like a fool I believed
We would find a way to survive
I wish we could be more than just a memory
And there's no good in goodbye
You tell me you need some time
Some time to be on my own
Right now when I need you so
Don't know how long it will take
Do you expect me to wait
But baby I gotta go
Then you gotta go
If you must go, you ought to know
I will get along, I will live without you
And if you should leave I hope you see
I won't be around baby if you should leave
You're gonna need me
You might think that leaving is easy
I had no right to lead you on
I should have told you the moment the feeling was gone
What I'm trying to say is that I need some space
I need to be sure
No, you'll never find another love like me
All around this world
Still you tell me
You tell me you need some time
Some time to be on my own
Right now when I need you so
Don't know how long it will take
Do you expect me to wait
But baby I gotta go
Then you gotta go
You said you'll always be mine
I need to be on my own
I gotta be on my own
Not gonna beg you to stay
But you'll be back boy I know
Baby I gotta go
Then you gotta go
Then you gotta go

Bangin' Duet!
Vanessa and Brian sound good on this cut, still digging it
This is my anthem for when I'm ready to kick untrustworthy or immature acting women out of my life forever.
Gone girl
This whole album is the soundtrack of my childhood. My momma wore out The Comfort Zone!
Same here!!!
Yes indeed a really good album
This album, 'The Comfort Zone' was one of Vanessa William's all time best! This duet is so well done. Salute Vanessa!
Love it classic
My Favorite Song From One Of The Greatest Albums Ever Made. Thanks For Posting!
LOVE THIS SONG!!! YAY for posting. Thank you!
Love this song and it's even slightly older than me(born second week of 1991)! I read that she worked with him on this song in 1990, which was about a year before the album came out. I think it was delayed from it's original scheduled release, due to her second daughter being born.
wow how old was vanessa in 1991 30?
@Angle Johnson 28 (she was born March 18, 1963).
OMG! Thank you, Dante Williams! This is such a favorite of mine. Had it on a cassette tape (lol) and couldn't think of the name of this song for noth'n.
Who wrote this?
I still love this song & her,BTW Happy 50th Birthday Vanessa Williams
When I first heard this song I liked it it cause Brain sound like a Jackson.lol
helps me say ...goodbye..
Sounds like Brian is straining to sing. Good singer though.
Thanx for sharing. That has to be Nile Rodgers on guitar? Vanessa was a pretty decent singer as well as Playboy exhibitionist.
wasn't she a beauty queen back in the day?
She won Miss America in 1984.
This could have been the single from the album because I see this playing on Pop/ R&b radio back than.
It was the best album she recorded, because every song is like a build-up to the next... It just got better and better...
Where's The LOVE Button? My Favorite Tune From A Great Album
One of my favorites off the Comfort Zone CD. Funny how this described the relationship I was in. The opening line..."i never knew why.....why we cant see eye to eye....and like a fool I believed...we'd find a way to survive"
Duets just don't get any better than this!
I love this song! Thank You!!!
