Brian Fallon - My Name Is The Night (Color Me Black) Lyrics

Can you give me something?
Tonight I'm so alone
The moon is upside down
Hanging on the telephone
But I remember
Every little bad dream
Every pretty slow dance

So can I pick you up later?
(When the temperature's better?)
If you need a little shelter
(Be your cool operator)
Keep it all quiet, yeah
(Just a little while)
Let the night wind you down, baby, down

And she smiles, how 'bout that?
I was just about to jump before you called me back
And you know the pain comes home
And the whispers come to call me
In my bed when I'm alone
And I've lost so much more than I ever had
Now my name is the night, honey
Color me black
C-color me black

Can I take you somewhere?
Would it make a difference?
Like pretty roses on a deathbed
But I remember
You in your white dress
In your mama's hands

So can I pick you up later?
(When the temperature's better?)
If you need a little shelter
(Be your cool operator)
Keep it all quiet, yeah
(Just a little while)
Let the night wind us down, baby, down

And she smiles, how 'bout that?
I was just about to jump before you called me back
But you know the pain comes home
And the whispers come to call me
In my bed when I'm alone
And I've lost so much more than I ever had
Now my name is the night, honey
Color me black
C-color me black

And how long, how long
Until you believe that part of me is gone
With your sweet, naïve kiss?
Well, I used to feel the same until I let the darkness in
And it cost me nothing baby
Naw, nothing more than this
Nothing more than this useless heart in my chest
Ah, nothing that I needed
And nothing I regret
Nothing that I needed
And I'd do it all again
I'd do it all again

And she smiles, how 'bout that?
I was just about to jump before you called me back
But you know the pain comes home
And the whispers come to call me
In my bed when I'm alone
Singing "Oooo, not just yet
When I go, I'll be going out
In flames and fiery wrecks"
And the quiet to me
Such an ominous sound
Say, my name is the night time now
Yes, the quiet to me
Such an ominous sound
And my name is the night, honey
Color me black

    So grateful for Brian's talents!!

  4. 1.... ....

Why is it that 8 months out this song along with all the other masterpieces on this album are only hovering around 200,000 views while crappy little pieces of fluff by wanna be, wish they were "artist" have millions of views? Makes no sense to me.

Unless he likes being on the edge of greatness, perhaps he does it's much easier to stay true to ones self that way, He needs to change management. Then again after thinking on it for a minute maybe it's is better this way. A few true fans with their own special little secret.

  49. J.... O....

His music makes me feel everything all at once. It’s like petting a pup whilst sobbing in its fur. I don’t know, I can’t find the right words

    J.... O....

    That's the blues my friend

    J.... O....

That's actually a perfectly succinct and apt description.

    J.... O....

I cant help but smile while i listen to him

    J.... O....

I call it "upbeat despair", but - blues is right on the money.

  50. S.... S....

Good God I love this man. I cannot wait for the new album, and to see him live again. Hurry up February!

  57. 1.... ....

When this song first starts I thought finally a Brian Fallon song I'm not going to love, that thought lasted about 10 seconds. Another master piece.

  58. B.... P....

This album is gonna be HUGE. I cannot wait it drops. If we were living in the late 70's this fella would be topping all the charts and be a world wide household name. Shame on music today for not recognising a legend.

    B.... P....

Ben Palfrey that happened to another man from new jersey. He released born in the USA in 84, and then everyone knew who the "Boss" was.

    B.... P....

I agree can't believe he's not s star I thought same thing about gaslight anthem

  59. B.... ....

Best song out of the four new singles

    B.... ....

There's 4. There's this one, Forget Me Not, If Your Prayers Dont Get To Heaven, and See You On The Other Side (which is my favorite).

  60. E.... P....

This whole week has stressed me to every end. Brian, thanks for reminding me how to properly start the weekend!

  61. I.... L....

Its been a long time since a song gave me goosebumps like that just did

  62. E.... F....

    the best ,til now

  63. T.... S....

    Always a pleasure, Mr. Fallon.

  64. T.... E....

Brian Fallon said in an interview once "It's not the audiences fault if they don't understand what you're trying to say, it's your fault for not communicating it properly, if you change you need to bring them on the Journey with you" Fallon's style has changed somewhat since the early days of the Anthem and he's always done a great job of making sure the changes aren't alienating to his core fanbase and of making sure that everything still has that Brian Fallon tone and quality we've come to expect.

Keep up the good work you overly talented fucker.

    T.... E....

agreed! the magician of words strikes again!

  65. N.... C....

I've never heard a Brian Fallon song that isn't incredible. I'm so excited for the new album!

    N.... C....

Nate Callens youve never heard TGAs cover of State of Love and Trust. If there ever was a song that needed aborted its that one. -10/10

That being said Im a fanboy and still listen to it because its STILL better than the original

  66. C.... B....

    Oh my god that hook...chills.

  67. D.... ....

It sounds like the old Gaslight Anthem songs :DD
    Brian thank you for that!!

    D.... ....

Thought that also, sounds a bit like a TGA song.

    D.... ....

achilles it kinda reminds me of a song that wpuld be on handwritten

    D.... ....

Not exactly. This one is different. I've been listening to them for awhile now so...

    D.... ....

    Mulholland Drive

  68. I.... G....

I keep your songs, Brian, in a separate playlist like a precious collection of poems.

  69. l.... h....

  70. S.... R....

I'm blown away! I don't know how he's able to write in a way that touches so many people so deeply, but I love that he can!! Just... WoWoWoW!!!

  71. R.... S....

    Singing “Oooo, not just yet
When I go, I’ll be going out
In flames and fiery wrecks”........I love you Brian Fallon, I've never said that to anyone.

  72. K.... G....

Everything you do is magic. You always seem to release music when I'm going through rough times and it always feels that you're writing to me. I don't know how you do it but please don't ever stop.

    K.... G....

YES YES YES....his music has that effect on me and probably all of his fans!how an artist can write for an ever growing audience but yet make it feel so one to one personal.i will always love brian fallon, and his music will be part of everything i do,makeup,breakup,marriage,greif...etc etc..

  73. r.... ....

After thinking it for 3:50 minutes, I realized that no matter how many poetry I write, I will never be as good as Brian Fallon. I won't say fuck you Brian, cause I really admire you, and I have to be man enough to know when I have lost to someone a 100% better than me. Long live Brian, long live rock n' roll.

    r.... ....

rasjeff1 I'm a writer as well and I've noticed that since I really got into Fallon, my songs are significantly better and increasingly poetic. A lot more metaphors about the night and New Jersey HAHA! But for rea, I have been a fan for going on 10 years now and he has become my biggest inspiration!!

    r.... ....

    rasjeff1 ditto

  74. A.... M....

    Amazing

  75. C.... T....

Bravo Mr Fallon, Bravo. How do you do it?
Your Music and Lyrics get deep into the soul and I thank you for that.

  76. M.... G....

  77. C.... C....

    Love the catchy riffs!

  78. M.... S....

    sick song. fucking love it.

  79. B.... V....

What a poet. He can do no wrong.

  80. T.... R....

I can dig the scene no sweat. Killer track Fallon

  81. S.... B....

    The legend returns!!!!!

    S.... B....

I hate him. It's just so fucking unfair. No one should be this good at anything!!! There I said it, F-U Brian!!!

    S.... B....

    thank you

  82. b.... ....

This man can do no wrong! Great song.

His first solo album was released right around the time my first daughter was born. This album was released the SAME day my second was born.  I was driving to the hospital with my wife when I got the notice it was released. His music is literally the soundtrack to my life and that of my daughters, along with lullabies ranging from Doc Watson, Cat Stevens, Social Distortion, Strung Out, Good Riddance (Stand). Thanks Brian.
